Did the test again and got the same result. But a fried starter wouldn't explain why my batteries kept draining so quickly so:
Could a jammed/broken starter stop the stator from spinning? And vice versa, could a jammed/broken stator stop the starter from spinning?

Can you spin the engine by hand?

did you jump straight to the starter from a known good battery?

and what, nothing? if you get sparks when you touch the terminal its a short which could mean a mechanical failure, if you get no sparks it is open which probably means electrical failure.

you need to describe exactly what is happening so we can help. i'm not really sure what 'test' you are talking about repeating and what the 'same result' means

Yes, I jumped straight to the starter with a good battery. When I did it on Sunday, I got sparks when I touched the terminal. When I tried it again today, there were no sparks.
I also tested the solenoid again and got a click and a reading of 0 ohm which I'm told means it's working properly.

@jen I didn't try to spin the engine by hand but tried push starting the bike on Sunday and got a faint growl. It almost fired up but unfortunately did not.

Flame me please, I deserve it!
I returned my battery to pepboys today stating they sold me a defective one (w/o a receipt nonetheless). They were nice enough to give me a new one free of charge. So I went home and actually read the instructions this time. Not only did I not top the acid off all the way (1st time) cuz I was late for work and in a rush, but I didn't let it sit the recommended hour or trickle charge it for 5hrs. I threw it in and took off. No wonder it only lasted 3 days..
Hopefully I didnt fry everything else trying to troubleshoot it, I'll let u kno tomorrow once I test it. From now on, I will do things right. That includes bleeding the coolant I topped off if the bike does start, getting my msf course and buying proper gear. Until then, tell me you told me so cuz a lot of you sure did and I didn't listen. As the English would say, Bollicks!

So it's a no-go I'm about to throw the towel in and bring it to the stealership.

I still get the tic-tac from solenoid. When i jump the starter directly, I don't get sparks anymore?? I also tried jump starting it and i got a faint growl. I tried it again and the back wheel just locked up and skidded to a halt. If i try again, same thing happens but if I wait 3-5min, I get that faint growl again and then back to locking the wheel.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if the starter is fried, jump-starting it won't work. Is that correct?

Well I tried one more test and now, I'm almost positive it's the starter. I cranked the bike while lightly tapping the starter w a hammer and it started squeaking and then a little smoke came out from underneath the starter. Something is definitely stuck in there. I'm gonna order a used one, drain all the fluids and swap it out and see if my luck will change.

Well, every time I do mechanic work, something usually goes wrong. Whether working on a scooter, car or bike. I'm always missing a tool, stripping a nut or fighting with rust or room to maneuver. But not today!!

I drained the oil, coolant system, removed the water pipes, shift lever, engine sprocket cover, alternator cover, starter idler gear with shaft and the starter motor without any hiccups whatsoever. I didn't crack any hoses, loose any screws or curse. I even spared the alternator gasket and went the extra mile by lubing my chain and removing all the gunk that accumulated everywhere

Couple pics of stator pulled out and the last one is my starter motor. One of the seals popped out and water leaked in causing the failure. New starter should be here on Friday. It's off an 05 with 7800miles on the clock. Paid $30 including shipping.

Fellow ninjetters, my baby's back!!!

The culprit was the bloody starter all along and now she's riding like new. Ahhh, the joy of slicing thru the wind w that whiny ninjette engine, priceless!

On a side note, she sat all winter and I didn't drain the gas because I had just filled her up and i didn't have a container large enough. Anyways, no bad gas here and she started right up and is idling at 1200rpm or so.

Admins, close this thread already!! Woop Woop!!
