[visordown.com] - Rider killed on Oulton Park track day

ONE rider has been killed and two seriously injured after a five-bike crash on an Oulton Park track day.

Two bikes collided at turn 13, City Hall, between Knickerbrook and Druids, in the fast group of a track day on Saturday morning.

A further three bikes came around the blind bend and collided with the first two.

A 52-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene and two others are in hospital with serious injuries according to police.

Organiser No Limits Trackdays named the injured riders last night on its Facebook page as Andy C and Bobby K.

The firm, which runs track days across Europe, released a statement on its Facebook page saying: 'Its with the deepest of sorrows, No Limits Trackdays are tasked with the duty to confirm that the incident involving 5 bikes at Oulton Park has resulted in the death of one of our customers.

'A further two riders are critical but not thought to be life threatening. One of the riders is undergoing an operation now. I will keep this subject updated.

'We offer the family and friends of the deceased rider our sincere condolences. Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.'

A Health and Safety Executive and police investigation was underway, the statement said.

A later statement added: 'Bobby K, has been stabilized and is awaiting surgery to his pelvis and ankle. We have spoken to him and arrangements have been made for a visit.

'Andy C, Andy has broken his Femur, hand and T 12 vertebrae.'

No Limits director Clare Keeley said the rider who died was a loyal customer.

She said the owners of Oulton Park, Motor Sport Vision (MSV), provided marshals for the events.

"We run bike track days [with MSV] where customer safety is paramount and lower numbers on track to what the capacity is to assure quality track time," she said.

MSV said it could not comment on the crash as it was part of an ongoing investigation.
