How do you transport your tires?

Well, CZroe came to buy my tires in the OC just a few minutes ago from SD and carried them off like so.

He really didn't want me to take pictures but thought, "I'd have to share it with the rest of the forum!" I have seen some pictures online of people carrying tires like this but never saw someone do so in real life haha. So here are the shots I managed to get before he took off

HA! Hey, it actually made the ride quite comfy.

More warm air trapped close to my body. My jacket is too large but that came in useful and actually made them fit better. I was planning to bring a backpack along with some rope to rig something up but I "tried on" on of my spares before leaving and this just seemed much safer (more stabil).

It felt a bit awkward putting them on... like I was getting dressed in public! I told Howard that I had seen pictures of people doing it before and they they were obviously taken because it was ridiculous-looking, but that I didn't care what it looked like and would do it anyway. I should have added, "as long as no one I know sees it!"

I kinda rushed away because I knew I was going to spend a good part of the next hour hunting the nearby neighborhoods for the owner of a wallet I found (the street numbers were jumping around like crazy with no others even remotely in the range of what I was looking for). I eventually found the house and returned the wallet, but I made sure to drop the gear and equipment down the street and walk up so they didn't think I was just "some crazy" knocking at nearly midnight. Even then, they wouldn't open up at first. They must not have known that the guy lost his wallet. I had to beg them to listen and it wasn't until I said "Listen. I'm heading back home to San Diego and I will not be able to ensure that it gets returned unless you take it right now." Then the person in the living room finally got someone to answer the door (her mother, I believe).

I wish someone would've done that for me when my wallet fell out into the street late last year. Instead, they grabbed it and ran before I could get turned around at the next light.

Anyway, it was an eventful night after a loooong day of work, so even the wallet chore was a reprieve.

I decided to take it slow and took PCH for the majority of the return trip. Couldn't see much but there were a couple nice views thanks to plentiful moonlight.

Haha, that's awesome. Why the hell was I using the trunk of my car to transport tires when I could have been having way more fun adding hula hooping to my riding

That is just way too funny. When I get my tires changed I usualy take my new tire to the dealer in my cage and drop it off and then go back home to ride the bike back to the dealer. This way seems to be a better use of time.

That's a funny pic, though. Definitely facebook worthy! I usually get my tires in the mail and I just put them on myself. Maybe I'll slip 'em on and take a few sexy photos with them. We should get a thread going!

Love it CZ, thanks for letting us see your Michelin Man impression. I'll definitely give this a try next set o' tires I get though; I've been asking a friend to come along in a cage or Snake's method.

That's like 100 miles! I respect you!

No scuffing to your tank etc? Police wouldn't have stopped you if they had seen you?

Last time I took wheel off bike and drove car to dealer I pull into parking lot of dealer and get this odd feeling. I open tailgate and no wheel. Call the wife at home and she confirms the wheel is in the garage!

Several police saw me, none cared to follow... not even to gawk or get dash-cam footage for YouTube.

I used my phone to cast light on the tank when I got home and it didn't look any worse than it always has (lots of tank bag usage wearing on the clear-coat). I think it contacted the tank bag mostly. I had the option to ride up on the passenger seat with 0% contact but I didn't feel like doing that the whole way.

As for the miles... I needed to run through a tank treated with Seafoam before taking it in for dealer service, in case that solved any of my issues. It was the perfect opportunity to do so.

It didn't take me more than an hour to get there anyway (Mira Mesa SD is a little bit closer than down-town SD and there was no traffic).

well my plan in case I needed to get a tired mounted was just to wheelie all the way to the shop but this probably works better.
