Jetting Question
I have been over the jetting database and have searched around. My question is what Jet Kit should be used for a 2009 250R with a full Yoshimura, Airbox removed (K&N airpod installed), and Kleen Air delete. I was looking at a DynoJet kit but the jets are only 94,96,98, and 100. After looking at the below thread (Jetting Database in DIY) post #7 and #11 seem to be closest to my setup I am going with. But the DynoJet kit does not come with 108 or 106 jets. So is there another kit that offers those jets or do I have to buy them seperatly (can you give me a link to where I can get them from.) Thanks

Just order the jets and pilots you need from carb parts warehouse.

Would you suggest the Factory Pro stage 3 kit. Says on their site it is for full exhaust and individual filters when airbox has been removed. I was also planning on shimming the needles and need to buy a jet kit to get the new needles correct. I do not know if this needs to be accounted for or not but the bike will be geared 15/42. Thanks I am some what of a noob still.

A jet kit is a set of custom needles and a set of jets that should be in the right neighborhood for the modifications listed. The only thing different between a stage 2 kit and a stage 3 kit is the range of main jet sizes.
You can buy the jets on your own, and you can use washers to shim your stock needles out. Aka, you can get nearly all of the benefit of a jet kit with about $25 in jets and washers. So a jet kit isn't really required, it just makes the process a little easier. The choice is yours. I personally am a big fan of jets and washers because it's cheap and simple. |

Should I mess with the pilot jets or just leave them as they are. I would not know what size is needed. Also I saw that you can buy needles individually. Does anyone know the p/n for the needles in our bikes.

I have not seen anywhere that you can buy the jetkit needles without the rest of the jetkit. The only individual needles I've seen are OEM replacement needles.
If you need more fuel down low, then change the pilot needles. This is part of jetting; it's all dependent on the specific bike. We can give you help and guidance, but at the end of the day, you need to go do the trial and error and jet your bike so it feels right. |
