"Our research has shown that for most people riding slowly is quite unpleasant as they feel that the bike is only a tick away from falling over and so they try and get through the 'slow' phase as quickly as possible. It is also true to say that most riders are happy for their bank angle to increase in direct relation to their speed of travel so at low speeds they use little or no bank angle, but at higher speeds bank angles can become more extreme.

Most riders are happy to bank a bike over, but only if the handlebars don't move more than a degree or two while they are doing so.

A Moto Gymkhana rider is happiest when big bar movements and big bank angles coincide, whereas most normal riders are happiest when they don't."

First were Japanese, then Britain's; America started with some organized event in Alabama just this year.

It looks easy, but these skills are hard to learn; it takes years to become proficient.

For example, you must be able to turn at full lock of the handlebar, controlling lean angle only with rear brake and throttle; clutch is only used at start and finish.
It is not only about maximum acceleration but about minimum distance covered by the rear wheel.

Here is a Japanese versus American comparison: 7 seconds difference in the GP8 (five figure 8's around two cones 12 meter or 39.3 feet apart):
