Clutch not fully disengaging.

I'll start off by saying that I've already tried adjusting both ends of the clutch cable to both extremes.

Last Friday I went down because of some gravel. The bike highsided on it's left side and slid a few feet in the dirt. The whole clutch assembly was angled downwards (simply unscrewing it and angling properly fixed that). The shift lever was also twisted pretty bad.

After getting it back home, I messed with it on Monday. The bike will start up fine in neutral. But when in first, it won't start and will move forward very slowly when trying to turn it over. It'll start if you give it gas, but will stall out when you stop. I'm not sure how it'll fair if I drop it into first from neutral after it's started as my rearset is still broken.

How effed am I? Will it be hard on anything if I ride around like this? How would one go about fixing it, besides taking it to a mechanic?

Oh, I also changed from conventional to synthetic oil during the weekend (after I crashed but before I started messing around with it)

You run the possibility of burning the clutch if it partially slips and does not fully disengage.
Remove the clutch cable from the hand control and with some vice grips you should be able to pull the clutch completely.
The only connection from the hand control to the clutch lever on the gear box is the clutch cable.
Worst thing I can think of is needing a new clutch cable.

Hm.. What will taking the cable out of the lever do? Am I just checking if it fully disengages by doing that?

Hm, that seems like the likely culprit. I noticed that that lever is not fully seated. After breakfast I'll check it out and see if I can get it working, thanks.

Well, since I've been able to ride it again (got my rearset plate finally), I've noticed that during the first ride of the day, I'll feel resistance when in 1st with the clutch lever pulled all the way in. But after the bike is all warmed up, it's not noticable. I switched from conventional to synthetic while I wasn't able to ride. Could that be a cause? (Like the oil settles from the gears)
