fender eliminator?

In switching out my tail light I noticed that the ugly tail fender cannot be just taken off and replaced with a licence plate holder. How do you get the "fender eliminator" look then? I really would hate to spend $100 on a "kit" to do so.

When ever I use the search function and type in what I want it pulls up random threads that have nothing to do with the topic I want, maybe I just dont know how to use it

When in doubt, try google.

type "site:www.ninjette.org fender eliminator" into the search bar.
like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=ninj...er+eliminator+

the second result is for a DIY fender eliminator for the 2008-2012 bike. I haven't read it, but it looks promising from the thread title.
here's the link: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=79171

Don't take this the wrong way, but the bike was made from 2008-2012. It's 2016. If there's something you can think of for this, there's a reaaaalllyy good chance that someone else, who's really creative and cheap, has already thought of it and done it to their bike. And if they got that far, there's also a really good shot that it's been documented on the internet. More than once. So, again, don't take this the wrong way, but please take 10 minutes to search a bit before always posting new threads on old subjects. I can't believe I've turned into the forum curmudgeon, but doooood; it's just a fender eliminator. It's not like you're adding nitrous and attempting to set land speed records on a totally custom engine. Oh ****, we've got plenty of documentation on that as well, thanks to Eric... ha!

I searched youtube for a while yesterday and this morning trying to visually find out if there is a way to just put a licence plate holder on, but couldn't find it. not THAT lazy, :-p

Try out this post:
https://www.ninjette.org/forums/show...4&postcount=15

It's for a purchased fender eliminator, but it will give you a good, documented idea of what the parts will look like and how it fits together. You can make some of that material yourself with basic metal stock and/or L brackets. Just make sure to make them look nice and paint them black when you're done. Or find a friend who has a garage and is more creative and see if they can help. It will be a fun project for you!

Also! If you scroll to the bottom, there's always relevant threads tagged so you can skim those easily.

There is a way, you literally remove the old one, and drill it into your under tail! Use self tapping screws, or drill holes and use nuts & bolts up to you! Nobody can see where it attaches so it doesn't look bad unless they lay on their back next to the rear wheel... :P

What Chone said about using google. I don't use the search engine here a whole lot but simply go into google and type why I am interested in then , ninjette.org after.

Example: Fender elim, ninjette.org

Yields all of this

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...w.ninjette.org

Plus you can always just check the DIY sticky in the new gen tech section.

Your fender eliminator sounds inferior to mine.

I did cut some parts of the OEM fender with a MotoTool and this is the result.

I don't have pictures of the process but the picture will give an idea of what to do.

Hope this helps

There are a couple options in the Search pull-down menu. The one that says "google site search" is doing the exact same thing as going to google and limiting the search to this website with keywords. The built-in simple search or advanced search can be more useful if you have more information about what you're looking for (what subforum was it in, who may have posted it, a specific word that stands out). But common motorcycle words are found quite often on a site > 1M posts, so it it can be a bit to sift through.

Can you sand, if so then don't worry about how ugly the chop job will be. Time and patience sanding will make it look good. Besides, it will be behind the plate so you won't even see it.

If you want the cut to look pro, take a lighter to the edge after you've cut it. Run the lighter back and forth a few times. The edge will be deburred and glossy and clean.

It's a nice trick for abs plastic fenders and airboxes
