spark plug cleaning before removal

i dont have a shop vac but i figured maybe someone else has had this problem so... there has to be dirt and road grim... how do you keep it from falling in after you pull the plugs

on my newgen... before I removed the plug boots, I used a vacuum around the head area and blasted compressed air with what I couldn't remove with the vacuum. Wipe the area down well before you remove the plug covers/boots. The boots should have kept the majority of dirt/grime out of the tower area. Vacuuming w/ a straw or tube attached to a vacuum attachment was the only thing I could think of. No pics of the straw.... my camera battery died.

After you install the new plugs (torque to spec), spray the rubber boots with some silicone spray. It will make installation much easier and removal of the boots in the future will be much easier.

+1 for using compressed air with a blow gun. Sounds like since you don't have a shop than you probably don't have a compressor either. In that case try using can of compressed air used for cleaning computer keyboards & electronics. You can find them at any office supply store such as Office Depot.

what size socket is that,, and couldnt i just make my own spark plug gasket to go into a deep well

k... took the plugs out with no issue... found a spark plug socket.. but i pulled the old ones and they are cr7hsa and i have cr8hsa... wtf
