Idle mixture screw question after jet install...
So I got finished putting in my dynojet jet kit, installed the clips to the recommended position and installed a 098 main. After I prepared myself for a tough time tuning the idle, the bike started right up and idled fine. I took it out, rode slowly, no jerkiness, no hesitation. Pulled hard to redline. At idle when I blip the throttle it revs quickly and then returns. Is it normal to not have to tune the idle adjustment screws after jetting? After all i've read, it seems that this bike could be an exception....

do you know where the mixture screws are set now? if not, find out, then start tuning them. you can always put them back where they are now if you can't find any improvement.
you may have lucked out and they might be set to optimum right now, but w/o playing with them a bit, you'll never know... and isn't that part of the reason you installed the jet kit... to maximize what you have to work with? on the other hand, if you're happy with the way the bike performs now, leave it alone and go ride. |

If you followed the DJ instructions, the mix screws are at 3 now?

i didnt mess with my mixture screws and im running rich right now
i blip the throttle and it comes back down but i little slower then normal, better rich then lean though i put the 100 jets in from the dynojet stage 2 kit, i knew i should have put the 98s but i didnt want to have to take them apart again if its too lean my idle is like 2grand, normal or kinda high? |

Try adjusting the idle via the Black Knob on the left side, under the gas tank. Did you install the DJ needles? |

The bike should idle properly ~1300 rpms. Check your idle mixture screws, check the throttle cable and also check the end of the choke wire at the engine. Sometimes after working on the bike the ferrule doesn't seat right into the holder and the choke can stay on a bit...

i know this is an incredibly late, super late response lol but i just saw this when i was searching for my posts (havent been on in a while)
how could the bike be lean? i have the 100's from the dynojet kit, the areap full exhaust, and the snorkel removed in my head there is no way it could be running lean, idle smells really strong like gas too so i figured it was rich either way bike is still kicking bike is an 09 an only has 1500 miles on it i think lol so i dont ride it much,

carb circuits are not tuned using the "smell" test. if you're happy with the way it runs, leave it alone. |

no....lol I installed them a while back, im kind of a newb to working on carb'ed engines
ill take a look at the instructions, still have them in the garage, sorry if im being a bit of a nuisance, just trying to expand my knowledge i may have to take the carbs off the bike anyways, so i can adjust the screws at the same time...its been sitting for 3 weeks, went to start the bike today and it didnt want to idle without the choke all the way on
