808 camera mount

I tried to mount my 808 camera inside the helmet and it worked ok, but had a lot of reflections inside. So I found an old name tag from a conference I once went to and it had a magentic strip used to hold it to your shirt. I set two magnets on the badge backer and then glued them to the bottom of the 808 camera case and then glued the magnetic strip to my helmet. This has the magnets in just the right place on the bottom of the camera. The steel bar has dimples where the mags are, giving 3 points for glue to grab to the curve of the top of helmet.

If you wanted to attach to somthing else, you could wrap another magnet plate with electric tape and put the camera on it. Note there is a slight gap under the camera in the side view... perfect for velcro strap or tape.

Had the bike up to 80mph and turned my head sideways and the camera did not fly off. There was a lanyard on it just in case. it is very low profile and I don't look like a teletubby.

The slick part of this is that I can just snap it off and on to see the buttons and LEDs. The positioning is very repeatable when you snap it back on. It's probably best that you "ease" it onto the magnets rather than letting it plop down.

Link to original page on YouTube.

You tube has compressed the snot out of the video, it looks better here on my PC.

Camera was $51 from notatm on ebay. So many counterfeits out there, his is what it says. http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-V2-Lens-D...E:L:OU:US:3160

Thanks, it's a lot of mowing. If we want the neighbors to come over we fire a gun. If we want them to bring beer, we start a fire. Amazing how fast smoke can bring a dozen people on ATVs.

Not that it's particularly on subject, but here's a video of an 808 camera mounted on one of my guns at a neighbor's house.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7zTZbUk06U

He has a nice plinking range, an urban assault 2 room "house" made of pallets, an old west "saloon" with moving targets in an old barn and a quick draw station with whiskey bottles to break. I'm shooting paper plates and knocking over bowling pins at 12 yards with a pistol.

Life is good.

I got an 808 also..not bad lil camera's for the price. My biggest issue is no way to easily add mic to it for vlogs.
Here is best I could get video/audio setup on the 250

Link to original page on YouTube.

My first thought about your helmet setup was that the magnets would erase the memory card..but I guess that's not the case since u got vid up :P
I think w this camera's smaller field of view, top of helmets give it a too far away feeling.

Memory cards are not magnetic. They are solid-state and use charged cells to store data. It's called "Flash storage." The only things you might refer to as "memory cards" which I know are magnetic would be some PCMCIA hard drives (usually permanently installed in iPods and the like), the IBM/Hitachi MicroDrive made to fit double-thick CompactFlash slots, and the obsolete and never accepted 40MB Zip Click! discs.
