Headlight issue

I have a 2013 and my low beam has been not work for a while. I have checked the bulb, fuse nth wrong on those and I check voltage on the bulb socket itself. Funny thing is I got 12V only with out the bulb connected. As soon as I have a bulb connected, it dropped to 0V. This make me to think it might be a relay issue. I took out the relay box and put a jumper wire across the relay switch for the low beam (Pin 1 & 3 if refer to the manual at page 16-80) but still act the same. Did anyone experience the same? Thanks in advance.

First, test your bulb to see if it's working.
- Measure resistance of filament in bulb itself.
- Connect bulb directly to battery with jumper-cables. Does it light up?

If not, replace bulb and repeat tests above. No use trying to light dead bulb.

Next, test your headlight wiring
- When measuring voltage at bulb socket, which terminal did you measure?

Thanks for your input. The bulb should be fine. I have switched the bulb of hi beam and low beam around and both light up on the hi beam circuit. I will measure the resistance next time to confirm.

I was measuring the volt across the connector where the bulb inserted directly.

Try same tests on high-beam side.

You may have hidden break in low-beam wire or corrosion that's preventing sufficient current to flow across low-beam bulb. With little current flow through multimeter, it may register full voltage. But with higher demands, it drops to zero.
