Oil Pressure Hose Leaking

So I have the hose on the outside of the crankcase that pulls oil from the crankcase, through the oil pressure sensor, to the cams and it's leaking. I bought a new hose, but am wondering - do I need to drain the oil and replace before I put the new hose on?

Do I need to prime the hose in anyway?

Ive got this weird fear that if I put on a new hose I'll starve the cams of oil on startup because the line will be dry

I've got a manual and it only talks about removing the pressure switch and using silicone sealant on the threads when putting the switch back together, I couldn't find anything about the removal of the actual hose

I don't know of any reason to do that.

Just replace crush-washers and you should be fine.

Perfect, thanks!

Unfortunately the hose is leaking from where the metal crimp (? Not sure what to call it) meets the rubber hose.

Waiting on the part. Hopefully it comes in soon

Oh, by the way, all my orders from the usual suspects (BikeBandit, Revzilla) are taking forever to leave their warehouses. Is this the COVID-effect?

I think so. My prior orders have all arrived later than they normally do.

In the case of my crankcase hose, there is no ETA update per Kawasaki dealer in SF...so I'm just waiting till they are able to aquire a hose. Till then she's just got a slow leak and gotta frequently check my oil level

Would eBay (or AMZN) give you a faster delivery date (if they have it), you can cancel your order with SF Dealer?
