Does your wife/gf have matching gear when riding as a passenger?

My wife wants to start going on rides with me and I would love to take her but that means I have to buy her gear so she can be safe and legal. I don't know whether to get her pink stuff or something that matches mine and the bike. I have a blue Ninja and I have a black/blue/white jacket with a flat black helmet. All of my stuff matches the bike nicely but now she wants to come along and I don't know what to tell her about the gear.

What do you guys do? Does your girl match you or the bike or does she just wear what she wants...

I don't know Jorge. I'm afraid that any thread where we are seriously discussing the color coordination (or that lack of) of gear for pillion riders, is not going to leave us California males in the most positive light.

My wifes gear is based more on girl colors. I think its a good thing because most will not usually question you manliness as long as the passenger colors indicate female.

OK, I'll bite. She gets whatever the heck she wants. This is a corollary of rule #1 of long-term relationships.

Get her chic gear, you dont want to be mistaken for having another dude on the back....especially one in matching gear.

I wasn't even thinking about that...lol

I told her sarcastically that we could be like those really cute couples that wear matching clothes and have custom t-shirts made with each others pictures on them

She's getting pink gear btw

I think it'd be okay as long as her gear matches, not necessarily with your or the bike.

That would be a great idea except that I like being married, and I like having all of my toys so I'll just buy it for her

Confused by that comment, but I started as a passenger on my hubby's bike. I liked at least having a say in my gear. I didn't know what to look for other than style, so we'd look at things together. He'd pick things for the safety features, and I'd choose from those.

Let her pick what she likes/wants. You don't want to pick her gear and have her hate it because it's not comfy/itches/rubs/doesn't match/makes her look fat.

Most ladies' gear options have colors to choose from so you should be pretty safe.

Me wears black or black/red. She wears black/pink. She insisted on keeping price down. Me buy her inexpesive jacket to go with stylish Z1R Tribal helmet size XXS. She says we too big to fit on Ninjette. We ride Spock (Vulcan 900 Custom). We spent 7 hours on Spock last weekend...in 98 degree heat. Honestly, she wears what she wants, but she is an ATGATT girl. Guess I found the right one, eh???

Well, I bought all my gear to match my bike, but I think when I start buying gear for my friends (I don't have a girlfriend, but I do have 3 friends that are female that have ridden on the back), I'll buy gear that "accentuates" their features. Ie, make 'em look hot (without comprimising on safety). Girls don't look so hot with road rash.

Just hope none of them are reading this thread...

I'm sure my wife will pick something she feels safe and comfortable in and feels like it looks good as well...I'll post pics if she lets me...I'm still waiting for her to model the bike

I meant in order to avoid a fight, I wouldn't ask her to buy her own stuff. I'd buy it for her but she would be the one to pick and try everything on

This.

My wife picked her own gear colors. They happen to match, but it was her choice. I wouldn't have cared either way.

Dang, having read this whole thread about fashion color matching, I'm going to have to hang out in Tech Talk forums for a while to get my testosterone levels back up. But buy her whatever she wants. Multiple benefits there. 1) You don't have to talk about clothes colors and styles. 2) It will make her happy, which will make your life easier and make her more likely to want to ride. 3) She can't blame you for getting her insufficient gear when she gets hurt after falling off (well, she can and will, but it will be about your riding and not also about her gear.)

my gear matches the bike (mostly white, with a little black and red), because even though I'm usually the passenger, I do get a chance to ride it by myself sometimes and I want to look good and color coordinated. of course, my hubbys gear also matches the bike, so obviously i match him as well. for hubs' sake, i would hope that a long blonde ponytail sticking out the bottom of my helmet solidifies the fact that i am not a dude.
