Features to Look for in your Next Jacket

I put this article together for the new rider to help them understand the features of different motorcycle jacket types.

Funny that the Latitude is mentioned in your comments. That is the exact jacket/pant combo I am considering now that I've been riding awhile and know what I would like out of my gear.

I do like that setup. It seems like it would be a great all 'round setup.

I like it for the waterproofness, and having pockets as I like carrying stuff when off the bike. Plus it has a hi viz version. And lots of good reports about the fit and feel with the new Misano material in the non contact areas.

My Tourmaster is great gear and has lived up well to the abuse I put it through, but once it got soaked, it took a few days to dry and was severely heavy. Add in it doesn't quite fit in my arms and shoulders, so looking for gear I can invest in and get fitted properly.

The Latitude seems a good middle ground between having enough, but no overboard. I LOVE the Badlands Pro and Adventure line but way way too much overkill for my riding style.

Timely article and nice to point to for folks trying to navigate their way through the sheer amount of gear available for street riders.

Yeah that Badlands is really nice. I have never seen it in person, but seems like it could end up heavy.....I would still give it a shot

Glad you found the article helpful.

I have, and a guy I know wears the full suit. NICE jacket. I really like how the D3O armor wraps around in front to provide chest protection. The internal kidney belt also really helps support the rider too.

The Adventure Rally jacket has a built in harness to help support the weight of the jacket, both the hip belt and shoulder straps.

K, now I am sounding like a Klim sales creature.

I bought a really decent Teknic jacket a year ago. Thick leather, armor, vents, good visibility,e tc.

The only regreat is that it's leather, and we get SOooo much rain around here. I hate wearing it in the rain, and ended up buying a Joe Rocket textile jacket for poor weather.

Ah well...
