Was unable to attend the steel horse stampede due to when I was putting the tires/wheels back on, and adjust the chain I noticed it was in a lot worse shape than I had originally thought, so bad that I'm not going to ride it til my new chain and sprockets arrive.

Which they should be here by Tuesday.

In other news there's another charity ride next Saturday, which is very close/local, my town, and I know whom it's for. A plus is a friend of mine with a Suzuki M50 wants to go as well.

Hopefully the weather will be nice.

The charity ride yesterday for a young boy was great, not only a charity ride, but the local volunteer fire and rescue helped out with a bbq, live music, and auction.

A lot of money was raised for a brave young man, and his family.

SIDENOTE: I was the only one on a sports bike.

A couple weeks ago during Qualifying, I thought it would be a good idea to toss my bike going through the bowl at Chuckwalla WOT in 6th, finally did some repairs on it. I managed to use zip-ties to hold everything together for the races.

Well, not today, but since I had the last 5 days off of work thanks to a contract dispute.

My bike - new sprockets, chain, rear brakes, bleed front and rear brakes with new fluid, lubed cables, washed bike.

Johnny 5 - replaced front brake system with one of my spares, it was seized up solid. Bled front and rear brakes with new fluid, put air box back in, place (PO had removed it for some stupid reason) put spare gas tank on, replaced bent handle bar on left side, cleaned carbs, lubed cables,

General garage clean up and emptied multiple cardboard boxes of spare parts sorted them and put them into plastic bins.

Since the weather was nice, I went riding with my older son (after he bought a new helmet). Went riding with my daughter. Went to new brewery (Old Bust Head) with a buddy and my daughter (they had really good root beer and a nice stout filled a growler of each).

I'd really like another 5 days off, but not getting paid kind of sucks.

Well here's the follow-up.

I replaced a lot of the fasteners already on SERENITY, stainless steel and some titanium. I decided it was time to update the fairing ones, I had already changed them out to button stainless steel fasteners. So after some searching on eBay I found these.

The washers are aluminum, the screws are stainless steel.

Here's how they look, I feel it's a nice touch.

Installed Big Boy Links and lowered the forks in the triples to gain some ground clearance for the track. Gained 1" at the pegs (which are already raised). BBL wont clear the GSX-R shock spring though. Some machining required.
Installed HealTech QS. Couldn't have been any easier to install and set up. Much easier than the QS on either of my other bikes in terms of install and set up.

Today, nothing yet. Over the weekend I completely ripped apart my 09. Reworked the wiring, yanked the air filter and carbs, cleaned the carbs, pulled the crappy clip-ons off, ripped out all the lights, prepped some stuff for painting, and dropped another $200 on parts/supplies. Tonight is finishing up the carbs, probably picking up some more parts in order to jet said carbs, (fully removing the airbox), installing new air filter (debating on singles or dual), and more paint prep.

Added some more titanium to SERENITY, replaced the front sprocket retaining bolts with M6 x 8 Titanium Ti Screw Bolt Allen hex Socket Cap head / Aerospace Grade.

I'm a fan of Ti fasteners myself -

On the Derbi, because with all that power and speed regular fasteners just won't do...

Or maybe they just look trick.

Nice!

So far I've done rotor bolts front and rear, brake banjo bolts, caliper mounting bolts, rear sprocket nuts, front engine mounting bolts(the 4 that hold upper mount/coils) and now the front sprocket retaining bolts.

I'm doing this more for the strength over the OEM, plus they look awesome.

Thanks, I was extremely pleased on how they worked out, and fit, it adds a nice finishing touch, and yes I have a set of ball end allen keys.

At this point I've replaced almost all OEM fasteners with either stainless steel, or titanium allen heads. Not only are the better quality than OEM, but they look better and cleaner, giving the bike a higher end look.

Do you have an good seller you could recommend? do you buy pre-drilled for safety wire fasteners as well?

Unfortunately I don't have any particular seller, I just search by size I need, and prices.

I don't bother with safety wiring, I don't do track days, etc.. the banjo fittings where drilled for safety wire, but I didn't bother doing it, if I'm worried about fittings I put a dap of purple loc-tite.

Nice!

Me, I finally got back to riding after taking two weeks off to get rid of a muscle spasm in my shoulder. Whew! Glad to be back in the seat again.

Im leaning toward CCS at BHF mostly because the facilities are a lot nicer and I think my family might enjoy it over RPM. It will mostly depend on whether I get a race fairing installed by spring time.

The snorkel is required with CCS for the 500 SS class. I think with the stock newgen, removing the snorkel just fixed a too-rich top end. Now I gotta actually put in the right mainjets.

Bought a used seat so I could make a rack/topcase option for picking up pizza and groceries, etc.

Cut off the pillion foam, hacked off the seat pan behind the rear mounting posts, and bolted on this Chinese rack and topcase I found on Amazon

Here it is with the case:

Sort of ugly, but effective. The original seat swaps off and on in about 15 seconds.

Changed oil and filter on two bikes this morning. Went to dump the old oil and saw this in the bottom of the pan.

Now which bike is the problem child?

My parts arrived! Now I can properly remount my turn signal, and replace the handlebar that has been bent since before I bought her.

Then it's on to a road trip!!!!!

Put the final bolt into my handlebar that needed to go back. Husband had to drill it to get it out, and so I needed a replacement. Luckily it was a standard metric size, and the local hardware store had one.

Sounds like a perfect excuse to upgrade to stainless steel.

Sent inquiry to Speigler for custom brake line. Stock line hits instrument cluster with my Driven clipons where I want 'em.

To do this weekend: put in some antifreeze, safety wire some $h**, blockoff plate, and try some # 92s in the carb.

I actually found a black one that blends into my handlebar and is an allen key head.

Put 330 miles on the bike today coming back from Vegas.

A couple weeks ago I installed my Ram mount and yesterday installed my cigarette lighter adapter in case I need to give the phone a boost while navigating.

I attempted to install the Ram mount on the left handlebar but couldn't get the clutch lever shifted over enough for the bar mount. I also didn't realize how long the arm was on the mount and how high up it would sit. I decided to "get creative" and the mount ended up fitting perfectly on the handlebar riser (is that what it's called?) and is now almost centered up. It doesn't look like it in the picture but the way the X-Grips work the phone sits straight up and down, not tilted one direction. The little blue bit you see on the left is a rubber/silicone wrist band as I didn't want to scratch anything up.

The cigarette lighter is supposed to have a little door on it but during some test-fitting and moving the bars back and forth to check clearance I had the door open and it snapped off. Oh well, it was only $3 It's just secured to the ignition with velcro in case I need to move it, remove it, etc. I'm also trying to make sure I don't do much to the bike that can't be removed as I don't plan on keeping this bike forever.

So my week went like this:
Tried using a 90 degree offset screwdriver thing to remove stock floatbowl screws. A couple stripped of course a which wasnt really unexpected but it was worth a try as thete really wasnt much to lose. So then pulled out carbs, replaced damn screws with socket head screws, put in the 92 mainjets, replaced some diaphragm screws while I had things apart, and also cleaned out 4k miles of grime out of front sprocket cover area.

I also picked up a set of metric hex driver bits from Ace hardware that fit just like screwdriver bits into my drill bit attachment. Love it!
