How much fork tube above triple?

Hello,

I'm wondering how much fork tube is showing above the triple on a stock new gen?

I'm putting the new gen front end on my old gen and I'm curious what stock was.

Thanks in advance!!!

The stock fork tubes are flush against the top of the triple, none shows above. The handlebar mounts right on top of them. Here's a pic:

To drop the forks on the bike, you can get a lowering kit which basically mounts on top of the triple tree to allow the forks to slide up a bit, then the handlebars are mounted on top of those blocks. Check out this thread for more detailed pics of what it looks like when the handlebar mounts are removed.

There is actually half an inch sticking out the top. Your handle bars are hollow inside to allow for this, its part of how they mount i believe.
This is exactly 0.5 inch sticking out, I measured it!

OK thanks, but did you measure from the outside of the triple (at the gap) or inside. Since the triple is at an angel.

Ah! I see that now in the DIY pics themselves:

For some reason I didn't realize that the piece still sticking up was still the fork itself, but now that I look closer it makes sense. Thx for the correction!
