Cvma requires case covers next round

Quote:
Morning all,
If you currently race with or looking to race with CVMA, please understand that you MUST have aftermarket case covers on your bikes.

Oil on the track is the quickest way to turn the track cold for long periods of down time, not to mention also VERY dangerous for everyone.
During tech inspection we notice way too many bikes without suitable case covers. Any case cover which contains oil needs to be reinforced. There are many aftermarket companies who provide reinforced covers, adapters, and plates that work just fine.

PLEASE, go out and get your case covers before the next round.
If you are having a hard time locating a suitable cover for your application, please email CVMA tech inspection and we will try and help source one.
Well, the good news is I found one:

http://www.amazon.com/Kawasaki-Ninja.../dp/B006K383NC

Bad news is we have to spend more money.

On another note, I didn't find one for the left side. Anyone know if they have one readily available for the left side (race application)?

And another question: Will these carbon fiber case really do its job?

carbon fiber isnt going to help protect the case. they are talking about those magneseum covers and crap arent they? noone makes that for the 250.......

thats totally bullshit theres no mag reinforced covers for the 250. if they require that they are killing the 250 class.

My thoughts exactly (not about killing the class) but I doubt those covers would do anything to prevent/protect the case. I could be wrong as I've never placed anything like that over any of my bike engine case covers.

if you have never tried to shatter carbon fiber, its not strong when it comes to direct hits. its stronger than plastic or fiberglass, but its not going to keep your case cover from breaking from a fall. if it was going to bust through the cast alloy cover, its going to bust through some chinsy plastic. is indietrucks asian dave? i am not putting a crappy piece of plastic over my case cover. if someone finds a magnesium cover, sure. but im not paying money to buy a piece of plastic that will do nothing.

The link wasn't provided by CVMA. I put that up there thinking that's what it was.

If any of you find one let us know. If we can't then we can provide an argument to the tech until a proper one is made. But no way I'm paying $200 for some case cover.

Had the shop checked engine covers. No one makes any. Woodcraft, yosh, no one. All they found was the cf beauty covers.

yeah, that cover looks to be purely cosmetic and not at all functional. I'm pretty sure there are still no beauty requirements, so I think that rule is still a non-issue in the 250 class.

Shockingly enough, the reason we refer to dave as asian dave is because his handle on SCM is..... wait for it.... Asian Dave

Indetrucks is Xtian, the beautiful and eternally shirtless man in the paddock who isn't Darren

Nem, what were they cleaning up after you looped it?

Interesting link about 250 case covers.

Okay, here's the answer I just received:

Quote:
You are correct and in some instances such as yours, there are no options for case covers.
In this case, you are exempt from the case cover rule. Please feel free to pass this info on to fellow Ninja 250 racers with bikes 2008 on.

Christian
