Which gauntlets? Scorpion SG3 or Dainese Carbon Cover ST?
Does anyone have experience with these gloves? I'm looking to upgrade from some cheapo $40 gloves.
The Scorpion SG3 and Dainese look like good deals. I like the scorpion palm sliders. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-sg3-gloves http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...over-st-gloves I'm not looking to spend more than $150; unless someone tells me that I can get an amazing pair for 200-250.

I've heard bad things about Dainese gloves and their durability.
No personal experience just hearsay though. |

I got a pair of held phantom off ebay for $110 shipped, which was a hella deal if you ask me, and quite honestly they are well worth every penny you spend on them. Keeping all your digits are priceless in my opinion.

dainese gloves are ****.
many scorpion products are ******. QC is terrible. held phantoms are accepted in the motorcycling community to be one of if not the best glove available. i know people who have crashed more than 5 times in phantoms and they still are usable. dainese gloves are one crash or less. go by what the product does and how well it does it, not how much it costs or who makes it.

I've never had or heard of problems with scorpion products (and I've owned a lot of them). Those gloves look nice. The knox sliders are a great feature, which puts them ahead of the Dainese, if you ask me. If I were choosing between them, that would be my choice. FWIW.

I can't say anything about Dainese gloves. I have a Dainese jacket that held up well in a lowside.

Odds of me finding a small size (7,8) for 110 on ebay are slim.

Just take your time and be patient and you'll come across a deal like i did, and your size will pop up before you know it.
It took a thread about degloving to drive the point in about gear and why you need to wear it. |

My Dainese steel core carbon gloves survived (3) crashes. Variable is the type of crash. One was a launch into dirt -really hurt. second was a low side @ 50 was a tumble no slide. third was a low side at 65 and the gloves stitching finally gave in. All crashes no injuries - thank you Dye-neh-zeh

For the same price point as the OP's gloves, check these: Kangaroo, stingray.... these are what I currently have. Caveat: I have not crashed in them.

Just googled "degloving" such a benign sounding term for a harsh injury. Looks like something out of Hellraiser.

I just ordered a pair of Knox Handroids. I generally like more low key gear but they were just such a good deal on closeout. Plus I liked the palm sliders and good wrist protection.
I can always send them back if I don't like them. I'll post a review if I end up keeping them. I thought long and hard about the Phantoms and AGV Sport gloves as well.

The thing about glove reviews is that most do not include the thing that's most important: Crash performance.
Do the gloves fit? Sure (my hands, anyway) Are they well made? Sure (they seem so based on appearance) What about features? Well, those sliders sure do look good... they make me FEEL confident.... etc.... What really matters is what happens when they actually hit the pavement. Yeah, I got mine because they offered a lot for the money and at the time I didn't have $200 for gloves. Maybe they'll hold up. Maybe they won't. If I were using reviews to make a decision, the only ones I'd give credit to would be those where the glove was actually in a crash and did its job. Helds have such reviews. Not sure about others.

One more question, do you think phantoms will fit over a jacket with bigger cuffs?
Some jackets with thin gaunlets won't fit well over jackets. After ordering the Handroids I was told they are out of stock. So I'm deciding between the Phantoms or AGV.

Almost all of the held gloves are awesome and will protect you very well, as you go up in price and quality it only gets better and better.
http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com...oves+Home+Page If you can afford the held titans they have an awesome price on those right now, and even the phantom II's price is really good. The thrux is a great glove that will do everything your looking for, so if you can find a color in your size still that is a good option to go with. |

My phantoms fit over my jacket quite well and once closed and pulled tight they almost feel as if it is one piece.

Phantoms have velcro near the wrist for easy expansion, shouldn't be a problem.

OK velcro expansion sounds good. My gloves are size small and I had one pair that would not fit right over my jacket.
I'll post a review once I get them. Maybe I'll even get to ride with them eventually.

You're right, how they handle a crash is the #1 thing. I couldn't find much on the AGV Sports but they seem like they would handle things well.

+1 on stuff made from kangaroo. It's supposedly 10x strong than cow. Wish I would have realized that before I spent thousands on gear...

Handroids are definitely stiff at first but they break in nicely. Mine have been great.

Well I got the Held Phantom II's in the mail today! Got them for $200 off ebay new.
They are a tight fit over my jacket, a Dainese with HUGE elbow armor that goes almost all way up the forearm, but they just make it. These gloves are really stiff but I'm hoping they break in with time. I just drove a few miles with them on using them to shift my manual and they worked fine. The thing that jumps out at me the most is the wrist/ulna protection. This "superfabric" or whatever is really thick and tough. Way better than my old gloves that just had padding over the wrist.
