Talking Plum Crazy Purple Race Bike Build

*Update: paint is finished and bodywork is installed. Overall, very happy with the color, but not so much with the Attack Performance race bodywork. It fits about the same as hotbodies. So unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, do yourself a favor and pick up two sets of hotbodies or armor bodies. In my mind, the fitment differences between attack performance and the other brands isn't great enough to justify the cost difference on something that will probably eventually go down.

Here's a few pictures of the finished product. These were taken on my camera phone (sorry for the mediocre quality) at this past weekends track day.

The following pictures were "in progress" pictures. The body pieces have three base coats, and are waiting to start clear coat:

And here is a preview of the black/purple color scheme:

Thanks, I'm hoping it'll come out half as nice as yours! Honestly, I don't think it'll be nearly as shiny as yours though. I'm going to start wetsanding/clear coat tomorrow, but there's only so much you can do with a rattle can

Wow, looks like that color layed down nice. Especially for rattle cans.

Yeah, the color laid down nice for a rattle can. However, the clear coat (2-3 coats) wasn't thick enough to guard against chips, so there are already several chips on the side fairings and belly pan

Thanks! I had (and still have) the pic you photoshopped as my desktop background image. It was my constant motivation

Rattle can clear isn't high solid, so it won't be very hard/chip resistant. Unfortunately, clear that you spray out of a gun usually only comes in gallons and is expensive. I guess cost vs. durability is the trade off.
Still looks good. Besides, it's a racer not a show bike, right?

Yep, very true... Go before show!

I've never done any body work like this before so I really had no idea what to expect as far as how it would turn out, or how long it would last.

But hey, it made it through it's first track day in one piece (which is what really matters!), so no complaints here!
