What RPM with full choke?
Mine gets up to 7k, seemed a little bit much to me when I had it on full choke today. It took some work to get started actually..wasn't even sure if I had fuel in the bike it was so rough! But I haven't started her in a week and the temps have been below 40 at night here, so that could have something to do with it.
But yeah, full choke=7k RPM? |

Doesn't matter how high it *can* get. Just use as much choke as you need. You don't have to run choke all or nothing. When the bike warms up to 4K rpm, turn the choke to half.

sounds like you're flooding it, instead of opening the choke all the way and trying to start it, have the choke fully closed with your hand on it and turn the bike over while gradually increasing the choke, if it fires up at 1/4,1/2... choke leave it, now go ride it. if you have the habbit of full choke, start it, and let it warm up while you check the mail, smoke a cig, put your gear on, etc, idling at 5000k, or in your case 7000k!! you are dumping a bunch of fuel into a cold engine with no oil pressure, which will cause carbon bulid up on the plugs, so i would change the plugs and top her off with fresh gas |

Yeah, I used to (before I started tweaking the carbs) put it on about half way, which would put the idle between 2k-3k rpms on my baby. I try not to idle it too high when the engine is cold. By the second stop sign, I can usually turn it off, and see if she'll not stall with no choke.

Idle on mine is 1500k. Full choke is about 3k. I only choke it for about 15 seconds or so. To warm it up, start it with choke. Choke off after about 15 seconds, or you will just be wasting petrol
Then just hold it at about 4k rpm for about 30 seconds. Then it will be fine and idle happily. |

hrmm. makes me think something is up with mine then.
Full choke gets it to idling around 4k-4.5k. But if i try to decrease it, down to say 2-3k, it dies out. Once its warm, it runs fine with no choke. Also riding with choke on it bogs alot. I have to give significant throttle even with the choke on to get it rolling... disclaimer: i know nothing about engines. (i love to learn though) |

What is your idle once the bike is warm, with the choke off? You can adjust the idle via a screw on the left of the bike just below the fuel tap if i remember correctly.
Twist left - idle speed down Tiwst right - idle speed up. Tweak it when the engines warmed up. Aim for about 1.5 - 2k rpm. If it cant idle steadily at these rpm, something is wrong. |

I was told not to let the choke run any faster than 3K. Its always worked good at that speed. I only use the choke to get rid of a little flat spot during acceleration when its cold. As soon as I start moving, I cut the choke completely off.
