cluster not working properly after rain

my clutch cable went out last monday so it took me a couple of days to get the cable and replace it. by wednesday it was raining and today is the first bit of sun all week so I decided to take her out and test the cable.

first thing I noticed was the RPM was not moving from 0 so I checked the speedometer cable and it was fine. After about 40 seconds of mildly reving the motor, the dial started to work. same thing happened with the MPH dial. it didn't work at first but after a couple minutes of riding it began to indicate speed. lastly, the temp gauge only moves about an 8th of an inch and then stops but I know the bike is much warmer.

I usually have a rain cover but it got torn from winds and it catching on something on the bike so it got kind of soaked. I don't see how water could have entered the cluster but is it possible the dials rusted in a matter of 2 days?

Check and see if your ignition module or junction box is wet. That could affect water temp/tach. Speedo is just the cable...maybe it just got hung up somehow.

it sounds like the back of your gauge cluster is wet... leave the bike in the sun and let it dry out maybe?

I just rode the bike again after it sitting for a few hours. The rpm still doesn't work immediately and then cuts on. It seems like something is restricting the movement of the dials

Eventually. I ran it hot inside a garage a few days in a row (idled) and it eventually cleared up.
