I honestly don't see why it wouldn't work, but i don't have first hand experience yet. The RX-2 will just be reading from the stock fuel level sensor, the only difference is in the display (analog v. digital) i think.

I think it'll just be a matter of setting the resistance correctly in the Koso unit for it to read correctly.

Got mine today too. There's no way to mount it to the EX250F gauge mount points so I'll be buying some perforated aluminum flat bar to make it work. I'm going to take this nice and slow.

Hey Jordan do you know if Koso sells a gear indicator for the US carb model?

Had a good idea for mounting it without a bracket, such as with a pregen: Bolt mesh over to the stay with the gauge mount holes, then trace the shape you want. Remove it and cut the mesh along your lines. Paint and reinstall with some rubber trim, if you desire. Use bolts and washers through the mesh to mount the gauge however you want with the normal holes and/or the universal bracket. I don't know if I have enough mesh for all the other stuff I want to do with it so I'm not going to do it like that just yet, but I plan to.

Be very careful not to overtighten the sensors in both the oil drain plug and the coolant insert! The heads will snap off from the threads on the sensor and are not covered by warrantee!

Will you still get the temperature warning from the wiring harness if you don't install the Koso's own temp sensors? I ask because I intend to sell my Plug 'n' Play kit, seeing as it isn't exactly plug 'n' play with the pregen.

Any idea why they say to set the tire circumference to 714? I just measured mine and got 1822.

Yup...I was thinking of fabricating a 12v source with a battery and wires, but then realized that I have a battery tender! Going to hook it all up tonight, shouldn't take long with the fan on high to reach 7,350 miles hopefully.

Why not just go into the setting of the gauge and set the mileage...?

Not possible, from all I could gather. The only other feasible way to set the mileage, apart from doing the mod, is to send the unit to koso so they can change it themselves.

I have a Koso RX2N gauge for my 1988 Hawk 650. There's a page in the booklet for setting mileage (which I did). I would think it'd be the same for the one you guys got in the group buy.

I also didn't see anything for it in the User Manual you posted. Try following the steps on page 5-13 from Here to see if it has that function or not.

Because those settings are intended for measuring wheel revolutions with magnets but the PnP kit has a mechanical converter that connects to the meter gear instead. The revolutions of that meter gear are not 1:1 with the revolutions of the tire and those settings are the ones that make it mathematically correct. It's all in how many electronic "pings" it gets from that mechanical converter.

Well, I didn't use the converter, I used the magnets and sensor. So.... 714 is not correct. I come up with 1822 as well.

I first rode it (at 714) down a 40mph road, keeping pace with traffic and it read 15MPH, so I knew that wasn't right. I had to stop at a gas station to fill. While I was there I pulled out my phone, checked the DIY thread, and read where someone used 1522. So, I used that on the way home. Seemed MUCH more accurate. When I got home I measured by rolling the wheel (just like is says in the instructions. and came up with 1822

So right now I'm looking for someone's experience. I'll have to wait for the weekend to get someone else to pace me to check it for sure.

I was hoping that someone could chime in with the setting to make it perfect.

there's no thing as perfect setting for wheel circumference. all of our tires are different slightly due to wear and deformation while riding. best you can do is roll it and measure it like it says.

Slightly different yes, but looking for a general consensus of where folks are setting theirs.

Kawasaki sets all of their stock setups the same, the PnP kit recommends 714 when using the converter. Was just hoping that a few folks come up with some numbers. Example: member a) set at 1822. member b) set at 1810 member c) set at 1860 and so on

I'm gonna set mine at 1822. Next chance I get I will have someone pace me at 30-65mph and see how accurate it is.

the most common setting is not always the best for your bike. each bike and each tire in this case is different. what's going to happen when your tire's wear down? the only way you're going to get an accurate speed reading all the time is by mounting a separate GPS device. however, i've heard these koso speedo's are much more accurate than the factory setup, but even then there's bound to be a small margin of error. if you want to see how accurate it is, just mount a GPS next to your dash. atleast then you'll have an idea of how much it is off

how's the fuel gauge working for those who have installed and rode their bikes around? i currently have the fuel resistance set to the default 100 ohms. is this correct for our bikes or do we need to change it?

the PnP kit has a 22mm one, iirc. someone else can also confirm.

if you're not using the PnP harness kit, can't you wire it directly into the stock coolant temp sensor? isn't just a one wire sensor? i would have preferred koso just make a connector for the PnP kit that plugs right into the stock coolant temp sensor. would have saved a lil bit of time and mess.
