That is the race system too which pumps out a bit more than the street system. It removes one of the passenger pegs so if you don't plan on riding 2up get the race system

Doing research on their website, the 18" is the better buy for the standard Area-P or the Race version.

On the standard Area-P, there's no difference between the 12" and 18".

On the race version Area-P, the 18" has better performance by about 1.5Hp.

Hi David,

Please sign me up for a race system with the 18" carbon can, but please try arranging for cheaper shipping, as 110$ is very steep. I've seen full systems ship for as low as 45$. Please look into it. So my order will be conditional based on two factors :-

1) cheaper shipping
2) availability of a map for the same, without air box.

Regards.
Hans.

P.s. I was just adding some light banter to the thread, while also being genuinely interested, stop being so uptight m8

I'd like to get in on this as well, but I am not sure when we are getting our tax money. This is my tax-mas present from myself but I was part of the group that couldnt submit my taxes until yesterday because I claimed some of the education credits. That put my tax-mas back at least a few weeks.

My question is this: when is the absolute last minute that I can submit my payment to get in on this group buy?

Thanks in advance

Shipping cost is as indicated - approximately $110.
We do not have maps available for the 250FI model without the airbox.

There are a couple maps made by Yoshi for their exhaust system. One is for the snorkel, one is for without. That would be a great starting point.

Also, you can get a lot of power out of the stock airbox. Those guys who race CVMA all have their airboxes (and snorkels) to comply with the racing rules. I've seen some of their dyno charts. They're quite impressive.

The other option: LeoVince suggests drilling a pair of 2" diameter holes in the back of the airbox. You could use their LeoVince Fast Fuel ecu and air box mods with an Area P system. That would also be a great starting point.

The yoshi map w/PC or the Leo Vince mods with their ecu might also be spot on. You never know until you try.

Honestly, I'm running a full exhaust without airox and with PCV + autotune. I'm using the same yoshi map as you suggested. I was only interested in y his because the areap race system is specifically designed to run without the airbox. But once again, without a proper map, that's a 600$ chance I don't wanna take...

If you are currently utilzing a PCV & Autotune, then you already have target values in each cell that your Autotune hunts for and has "learned". In simple terms; changing to the Area P Exhaust simply means that it will "learn" the new values essentially within the amount of time it takes you to go through the various throttle positions and rpm ranges. This is the beauty of wideband autotune modules.

Sign me up for the GB!

Would you recommend the standard carbon fiber full exhaust over the stainless steel version or do they just look differently? and my bike is completely stock but want to put on this full exhaust and put in a k&n air filter in the stock airbox. So would that mean i need their dynojet stage 2 kit as well? if so sign me up for that too! lol

p.s.
this is my first time participating in a GB. So my question is how and when do i actually pay for this?

Conditionally, yes. As a as i don't cause any trouble if my tax money doesn't come in time and I have to drop out.
I'll take a 12" carbon fiber can, conical end cap (as dark as it comes; black or carbon fiber if possible) area p custom jet kit. And as much of the system (obviously not the pipes) in black or carbon as possible. Trying to go completely black on the bike. Thanks!

Standard carbon fiber or stainless steel is what you like the looks of better.

Yes you will need the dynojet stage 2 as well.

You pay after the GB closes, someone will contact you for payment.

Got you down. As far as the pipes and endcaps they do not make black, they did a small batch of black endcaps about 3 years ago, but not planning on doing anymore. If you really really want black everything there is a process called Hot Powder Coating that I had done on one of my exhausts for my Ninja 250R. The colors available are matte black, dark grey, and white. I did the full Totsubo Exhaust in black and it cost me $500. Its pricey but if thats what you want then go for it. Here is the link to the shop I go to that has done alot of work for my motorcycles.

Thanks! I imagine that I can get this done pretty much anywhere, right? It's just powder coating or is there a difference between that and "hot" powder coating? I think for the immediate future, I would just be getting the end cap and find a way to get the rivets done as well. The pipes I may just have wrapped with some exhaust wrap until it gets the powder coating treatment. Thanks.

Please note - we do not utilize rivets on any of our mufflers. We use stainless steel button head screws to secure the end caps. Also, we highly recommend that you do not utilize any kind of exhaust wrap. These wraps trap heat and moisture and do not allow the lightweight 304 series stainless steel tubing to cool and dry naturally and may cause it to become brittle over time.

Shipping cost is approximately $95.00. If by "FI nut", you mean an O2 Bung - we can supply a CNC'd 304 series stainless steel Bung specifically designed for our systems. We do not install them because of issues with not knowing the exact location required for clearance. Since we do not get the FI 250r in the US, we have have had issues in the past with getting the Bung installed exactly where it needs to be. Therefore, we now simply offer the Bung seperately and you would have someone install it for you.

The primary differences besides aesthetics are weight and radiant heat. The carbon fiber muffler weighs approximately 1 lb less than the stainless steel muffler version and it puts out less radiant heat.

Alrighty then, no exhaust wrap. As far as the screws for the end cap, the end cap itself, and the screws on the side fo the can, are those easily removable to have them powder coated or is that not advised?

I'm talking about the ones on the sides of the actual can.
Also, thanks for schooling me on this stuff! I learn more everyday I read on these forums!

The end caps, especially the Flat Conical Billet End Caps are not the easiest to remove. We design them with very precise tolerances. The end caps are press-fit into the muffler shell and core, then bonded with a 2000 F. silicone based agent, then secured with the button head screws. We build them to stay together and last a very, very long time. Obviously we have the equipment, tools, and skills to take them apart without damage. But it would not be an easy task to you to do and we do not recommend it.

Perhaps you might consider simply taping off the muffler and painting the end caps with a high temp black paint. I have seen this done in the past with good results by some customers.

I was afraid of that. Word on the streets is that you guys don't mess around! Ok I guess I will have to be innovative to achieve what I want done. Thanks again. I see that you guys are based out in Anaheim and somewhere in Florida, is your shop is Anaheim available for visits? In case I'm not able to get the money in before the group buy is done with, to help save on shipping and a few pointers on installation?

The pipes I may just have wrapped with some exhaust wrap until it gets the powder coating treatment. Thanks.
Don't think it is available anywhere, it is special material and you would have to check around. There is a difference between regular powder coating and hot powder coating the information is on the website link.

Do you want the standard or mid-high race system?
