oooo... does that mean you guys can get it through Yamaha directly in the states?

since there is someone asking me to buy it for them, but if its available there... it would be way cheaper!

it would be a bummer to send this over, and pay for international shipping when you can actually get it over there, lol

Oh, that other DIY looked way more complicated, they cut off half of the right side plastic. you loose the shape of the swing arm doing that... i prefer the way i did it by making the space for the brake calliper and keeping most of the hugger intact. keeps the left and right side of the swing arm in balance.

It's probably still worth asking at an official dealer, but that was targeted at people in India. If they are avaialable in Mexico like someone suggested, well, I live half an hour away but I don't have the necessary paperwork to cross the border. I'm sure I could find someone who could though.

I agree. It's not nearly as seamless as Sportisi's full cover but it is much better than the tiny rectangular shape that makes is so obvious that it's a 250 (all the bigger sportbikes here have those bulky flowing swingarms).

If they have these in Mexico...I live about 10 miles from the bridge to Juarez. Even though my passport is good I think I will ask one of my Mexican buddies to hop over and check it out.

By saying hop over I mean legally :P

$50 Huggers for sale.

Actually, IF I could get them I would try to get them to everyone here for cost. I've been helped greatly by the members of various forums in the past and only have the need to pay it forward.

On the other hand...I do need to replace the RC.

Let us work on actually getting them, lol.

I found a couple of dealers in Chihuahua, which is actually pretty close to where I am.

yamaha. Av. Teofilo Borunda Sur No. 2106 Col. Zona Centro C.P. 31000 Chihuahua, Chihuahua (01-614) 415-52-52, 415-52-59

yamaha. Antonio Montes No. 4705-A Col. Panamericana C.P. 31200 Chihuahua, Chihuahua (01-614) 413-80-48, 413-44-55, 413-97-00

I would love to give them a call but I speak this >< much Spanish. I may try to get some co-workers to try but I work nights so it could be a minute. If anyone here speaks Spanish please feel free to give them a call. Work out a drug deal (no pun intended) and get them shipped up here!

It may be tough finding someone on the US side to go down and get them considering that you have to drive through Juarez first. Huggers aren't worth someone's life, lol.

Not yet, can't find anyone brave enough. You know, the whole murderous drug cartel excuse. Whiners.

If I can get someone to call and speak some espanol then I think we might even be able to ship them up, a whopping 30 miles or so, to the U.S.

I attempted once to the top number I posted and got hung up on. Spanish fail, I even tried google translate but I was responded too and had no clue.

I dropped by. The parts dept. gave me a massive deer in the headlights look. Might try again when I head in to swap rear tires if it's a different kid behind the counter. There's one in Las Cruces that I can give a shout to but for now I'm going to bed. Way past my bedtime.

EDIT: See post above, lol.

Also, have the part number ready. Did anyone provide that to a US dealer when asking? They might not need to know what it is!

I just got this info from a friend in Guadalajara.

The hugger costs about usd35 and they have to order it at the main warehouse in Mexico City. Delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks. UPS shipping cost to the US would be another 15 or 20 dollars plus any applicable customs fees.

Final price depends on how many huggers are ordered.

holy crapper... the price for exactly the same item over there in Mexico is being sold for 11 times more than what its getting sold here in Indonesia, or in India...

on top of it their order/delivery time (4~6 weeks) seems about as long as international shipping from here all the way there, BY SHIP! lolol....

its could almost be cheaper to buy a bunch of them here for way cheaper, and ship it in one package over to the states.

i would be willing to order these for like uh, 6 dollars each. i reckon if we get a small GB of 5 pieces of something, the overall cost of the item plus the shipping will be cheaper to get it here than buying it from mexico.

some simple maths~

from over here:
5 x $6 = $30
plus shipping, lets assume around $100~200

total = $130 ~ 230

--------------------------

from mexico:
5 x $35 = $175
plus shipping, around $75 ~ 100 (for 5 pcs)

total = $250 ~ 275
plus maybe some custom fees?

-------------------------------------------------

i already have one person in the States asking me to buy the huger for them, but i said that we should wait for you guys to check out the Mexican prices. but now its possibly cheaper to get it from here even though the shipping might seem pricey, just because the price of the item here is way cheaper.

the only thing i have no control over is the time they need to get the parts. i think i had to wait a week for the part to arrive here after i placed the order at the Yamaha dealer.

W.

I don't have a passport and I'm going to be moving to WV or GA within that shipping time frame of 4-6 weeks. There are a whole lot of us in SD though, thanks to the perfect weather year-round.

I don't know. For one thing, a lot of potential buyers are in SoCal/SD and would be paying pretty close to $35 for it (I'd tip the courier if I were you!). For another, I doubt they stack well so the package from Indonesia would be HUGE and they would still need to be broken up and shipped domestically at the same cost as the Mexican supplier. Also, people in southern AZ, NM, & TX may be able to pull the same thing off for their region and save a ton of money on shipping and import taxes.
