Group Buy: Bohemian Racing Adjustable Rearsets

Hey guys, i am not trying to step on the toes of another group buy, but I cant wait for months for my rearsets, i want them ASAP! I also want green which are available at Bohemian Racing. They have a set of SATO style adjustable rearsets they sell for $250 a set. They also offer a 7075 T6 alloy for $280.

Currently in negotiations with a company rep to get us a good deal. I wanna get an idea how many would be interested. I told him we could prob have between 10-12.

Heres a link to the product page:
http://www.bohemianracing.com/dev/in...art&Itemid=169

If you may be seriously interested please join the list. Nothing is set in stone and noone is gonna be held to it until a final price is agreed upon, so dont feel obligated by signing on. This is just to get an idea who MAY want in.

i was not familiar w it either when i first researched these so i wiki'd it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7075_aluminium_alloy

"7075 aluminium alloy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aluminium alloy 7075 is an aluminium alloy, with zinc as the primary alloying element. It is strong, with a strength comparable to many steels, and has good fatigue strength and average machinability, but has less resistance to corrosion than many other Al alloys. Its relatively high cost limits its use to applications where cheaper alloys are not suitable.

7000 series alloys such as 7075 are often used in transport applications, including marine, automotive and aviation applications, due to their high strength-to-density ratio.[2][3] Its strength and light weight are also desirable in other fields. Lacrosse shafts, rock climbing equipment, bicycle components, and hang glider airframes are commonly made from 7075 aluminium alloy. The bicycle industry is also using 7005 and 6061 aluminium alloys. Hobby grade RC models commonly use 7075 and 6061 for chassis plates. One interesting use for 7075 is in the manufacture of M16 rifles for the American military. It is also commonly used in shafts for lacrosse sticks, and camping knife and fork sets.

Due to its strength, high density, thermal properties and its polishability 7075 is widely used in mould tool manufacture. This alloy has been further refined into other 7000 series alloys for this application namely 7050 and 7020."

So add your name to the list! It's not a commitment it's just saying you're interested. We need more members on the list to get the price down anyway

i have a set of adjustable levers already but if there are more people interested in those it never hurts to ask. if more people want levers or other products listed on Bohemians website list it after the colr/type of rearset you want and i'll see what i can do.

I understand the different types of compounds but my question is... The picture for the 7075, the adjustments look strange, like the peg part is separate from the shifter/brake, but with the standard ones look like the peg is attached to the shifter/brake. Can someone say why? Or am I just looking at it wrong?

hey Kevin, good catch brother. i didnt really notice that till now! i just posted the pic of the 7075 above so people could see it. i looked at some other rearsets and some (vortech) had that same style, pegs separate, others had the peg attached. looking at the 7075's the one thing i think it would allow is more adjustment options: w the peg being separate you can really adjust to the perfect position for your preferred foot controls, while the regular being attached you have a set distance between peg and control.

and these are SATO style rearsets and if you look at SATO racing rearsets (which sell for $445) they have the peg separate from the clutch/brake.

yea, i saw on barf in 2009 the ninja 250R sets were going for $260
on the website now the reg set goes for $250 and the 7075's for $280 add $20 for two color combos.

dennis did answer my email today and gave me a price but i dont wanna post it yet because im not sure if that included shipping and if it was for the 7075's which are def the ones i want. i sent him another email and he should get back to me tomorrow.

also kevin on the site it says to allow an extra 2-3 weeks for 2 color combo orders, just a heads up.

Paterick408 has these.

I'm gonna try out the Sportisi predators....I'm in no rush. I HAD the Moth rear sets installed for about 500 miles and just couldn't get comfortable. I reinstalled the stock rear sets and I'm much much happier. Anyone interested in a black pair of used Moth rear sets? If so, then make an offer, I paid $225 and purchased them from a certain Thai vendor a year ago.

Pm for pics

Thats what I was thinking of doing I want the part that attaches to the bike to be red, and then alternate from there. Just like the green one but opposite (and of course red!)

And I believe he has black in stock so if you want them now that would be quicker

Haha I appreciate it man but since I didn't crash it I'm not paying for it so I'm getting allllllll new parts. Most of them shipped out yesterday actually. Already have a new Area P muffler on, getting mirrors with LED turn signals. etc etc.

I wish I could join you guys for your tech day but given these rear sets are taking as long as you are I don't think I'll be moving by then.

Ok guys its official and I have a price!

I just got off the phone with Dennis from Bohemian and we are looking at $230 shipped for the 7075 T6 rearsets! Thats not bad at all considering they sell on his site for $280 plus $10.50 for shipping! Thats a savings of $60.50!

Dennis said he has a few sets in stock but will need to order more to complete our order and it will take about 2 weeks to get them in so the sooner we can place our order the sooner he will put in for more sets. He also said the 7075 sets are much nicer than the reg sets so DarC i know u listed the regs but he suggests the 7075's. If you really want the regs he can get them and they will be a little bit cheaper, but again he needs to order them too.

Dennis is a rider himself and uses the 7075's on his bikes.

Dennis said he needs a list of colors and would need a $50 down payment on each set to order them. I would prefer to just pay him in full up front if possible so theres less hassle on both ends. I will PM everyone who commits with my email address for paypal payments. The sooner we get this together the sooner he will order the sets.

For the Cali guys since Bohemian is in Cali he will ship directly to you. For those of us outside Cali he will send a bulk shipment to me and I will distribute to everyone else.

So lets get the confirmation list started and get this done!

COMMIT LIST:

2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

I'm going to wait a day or so to see what's up with the other GB but I'm fairly certain I'll be committing.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for him to provide us a coupon code rather than having to twice ship and cover paypal fees? Plus it takes any liability off of you should something not go right with the transaction. I'm confirmed if we can clean up the transaction a bit.

I'm not saying you aren't trustoworthy, just calling it how it is on the net :S

BTW, great job scoring the GB.

I hear ya Dan. I didnt ask him about something like that. I offered to handle the distribution to make it easier on him and kinda ease him into the group buy idea. I figured he would be more likely to hook us up if he had to do as little work as possible. He actually suggested to me on the phone that he would ship to Cali people.

I can run the coupon code idea by him and see what he says. It would prob help if I had a def number of rearsets needed, the more orders hes gonna get the more likely he will prob wanna do the work.

If i do have to handle the shipping and paypal i can invoice everyone and that way u are covered. I didnt even think about the paypal fees on my end either. How does that work? does everyone pay a fee for sending money? or would i just pay fees for receiving?

also, he wants to place one order to china to fill our order so if everyone has a coupon code to pay themselves our order wouldnt go in till everyone paid up. that means if one person is slow to pay that could slow up our delivery. whereas if i place the order we know the sets will come 2 weeks after i get the order in.

If they send it as a gift they cover the fees and you get the exact amount you asked for

ok, well lets see who seriously wants in and what method everyone thinks is best. if everyone wants to do coupon code i will look into it. i just want to get my rearsets ASAP. this is my first group buy i put together so its a bit of a learning experience. I have enough money in my paypal account to just buy the rearsets straight up but i can wait if it means saving some money and hooking up my fellow ninjetters

In order to have buyer protection you can't gift. For those who don't mind it, that is an option. I learned the hard way a long time ago that's the only reason I bring it up. It just protects everyone Paypal fees are I think 2.9%, so on these it would be around 7-8 or so bucks off the top of my head. Shipping via USPS flat rate is $5.20 or so. 12-13 bucks to get everything sorted isn't too bad. If you can make a good paper trail I think we can do this without a hiccup.

yea, paypal fees would be about $7 which i would have to add to the price to cover my expenses since i'm not the original vendor and i'm not making anything off this but the same discount everyone else is on the rearset cost. and if i have to pay $70 in paypal fees then im actually paying more than regular cost for my set

maybe if we get some more people involved i can get Dennis at Bohemian to drop the price down. he quoted me the price for a group buy of 10-12, lets try to get 12-15 committed buyers and I'll see if that will work.

okay everyone start telling a friend to tell a friend and lets get this thing rolling! lets start getting some names on the "COMMITTED" list and hopefully by monday have this thing ready to roll!

Hey guys, I'm actually pretty close to Oakland and maybe I can help with all of this. The way I see it, instead of losing money to 2x ship something, I can pick them up and individually ship them to everyone. Flat rate USPS is more than $5.20 unless they fit into the super small box. I'm not sure if they can be broken down enough to fit in, but if the pegs can come off on their own, then they should fit.

Jae, see if he will reduce the price further if I pick them all up. You guys can paypal him directly the amount he wants and then just shoot me the shipping fees. I would need the paypal fees paid as well. Paypal charges 3% + $.30/transaction. So if he can reduce his price by about $7 then it won't cost you guys anything extra in terms of money, although you will need to send him payment and me payment as well. Just don't mention $7. Maybe he'll lop off $10 and save you guys an extra $3. lol. I'm just trying to help out. I'm not going to get any rear sets since I use adjusters.

thanks Tri. very much appreciated! we could even send you the shipping costs as a gift so we would pay the fees on our end. sounds like a possible plan.

first things first tho i need a "committed" list so who's in??

Actually, I would prefer the regular payment. When you send it as a gift, I'm not able to print out a shipping label and that means no tracking info for you guys. Just let me know if you want me to help out
