KC,
For the second list, are you taking customizations yet, or waiting to get list one completed first?

There is a lot of work to be done to get it into the dash. If yky have a problem cutting plastic to make room then you might as well put it somewhere else

Well its just a couple leads of wire so it doesn't matter really what led you use. The normal led is 5v at 35ma, if you want to do what I did and add a 12v strip of LEDs you must hook up a relay and a transistor

Correct I can wire any LED of 5v up to 35mah up to the gauge within seconds.
Any way you need it wired. Any shape LED within those ratings.

If you want to supply the LED because of special shape or choice, I will agree with that and supply you wires to solder your LED to.

Otherwise I just use a standard 3mm LED on some mall hookup wire.
As long as you need the wire to be.

For list two, I will take payments in full for each gauge before I begin ordering parts for them and taking customizations. I don't have capitol to keep making the gauges on front.
You guys have a bit of time to think how you want it while I get the last gauge on to Adrians bike, finish up Welcraft and Jdoucet and then write the shift program upgrade before I take payments for group two.

Seems like so much yet to do still!
I was about to go get some switches today but I got stuck mowing the entire property for weed control. haha. Yard looks nice now though. This fall I'm gonna try and plant some grass and get a new lawn going! I may head down for the switches now anyways.

Ah, I did it AGAIN! I meant LED Digit, not the regular LED light.

I can make the digit on a remote ribbon cable about 12" or so max.
Same with the LED. I you want to drive something larger than an LED I can make you that circuit also for a small additional fee.

I was out today,
looks like the electornics shop is keeping stock of the switches as fast as I can buy them out which is good.
I also picked up another tiny relay like we used on Kevin's bike, some more gauge plugs and a tiny little aluminum project case that should fit my gauge just perfectly that cost me about $8.
I figure I can paint the case if I don't like the color.

I just had an idea for future customizations.... Originally the idea of reflecting the digit off the windshield as a HUD was tossed around. Since this would show a mirrored image, programing (or wiring) the digit to read backward would be reflected as a corrected image (not sure if it would need to be upside-down too).

Yeah, I can set it up inverted and flip flopped for a HUD.
I am the program creator, I can make it how you guys want it.
Kevin wants the program changed around on his bike too because he takes off in first gear without giving the gauge the proper boot up sequence lol.

Alex, part of the instructional video instructs you to put hot glue over the switches when you are done to waterproof them.

I also instruct people to remove the gauge in the rain since it has no case so the switches aren't connected in the rain anyways (hopefully). For the guys that do permanent install they need to do a bit of waterproofing with hot glue.

Hasn't on my bike yet but I'm sure some of us get their bikes dirtier than others.
It's possible I suppose but it's never happened to me before for any reason to where dirt was any issue.

I expect a quick blast o' compressed air would clear the dirt out of the switch for the most part. Or worst case, replacing the switches would be what, a $5 venture including a little for soldering supplies?

I'm going to get a measurement of how far away you guys should place the switches from the shift clamp for optimal use. You basically place them somewhat far away and bend the tabs on the switches outward a bit until you get the switches sensing in the gauge. The clamp has to be pointing int he right direction too.

If you mount them too close it looks like they can be destroyed and false sense opposite shifts.

I took some video on this but I think I want to take a better video soon.
It's not so professional.

Check this one out.
I finished another gauge ready to sell. Anyone from group one want this gauge?
Welcraft? Adrain? If not, somebody from list two can buy it.
It's inside a housing! =)
I need to ask a bit extra for the extra work I put into this one and extra parts.

If you guys want to send me your gauges I can do the install for you for a small fee. You will still have to install the switches though.

Nice to see group two filled up.

I'll PM everyone when I am ready and finished with group one.

I still have to finish up two people and tweak Honey Badger's rig a bit more.

If you go remote LED and remote digit you won't need a case..
I'd assume you will be mounting it behind the dash for installing the digit in the gauges?

A housing is more for an all in one unit for grab and go when needed.

The remote stuff is more for permanent mounting to get the digit where you need it while keeping the circuit board out in the air to stay cool.

No case they cost $75. With a case I am going to ask $95, as I have to hand cut all the holes and the case is about $8 extra for me to buy. If you really want, I can make yours remote with a case but I wouldn't see the purpose. It seems like either or would benefit from it's own way.
I would have to put you on group #3!

You still receive group one no profit gauge price.
I'm asking $60 from you for a gauge with no case.
Add a case and that's $8 and then I added hardware and a day or work to get it into the case.

For you with group one price and a case I am asking $80 shipped to be fair to me for the work I put into it! It took me two full days assembly time!

For group two or three, a cased gauge is $95 shipped.

Remember, there is others out there on the market like mine, but nobody is promising a shift light upgrade in the near future! I can provide you guys with close customer support as well. No other gauge has a switch bracket made just for our ninjette like this.

My only issue is you guys remove the gauges in the rain if they aren't installed inside your stock dash. That's why they include a big plug and velcro mounts.

When we are talking about LED colors, I'm assuming we are only talking about the shift light, and the Digits all come in red... is that right?

Correct this particular digit I can only get red and green.
I would assume the other colors aren't so bright. I think they have yellow and orange too.

I went with this digit because I know it will be easy to source for a long time to come. I can get them many places.

I'm already out of processors again.
It's just about time to finish group one and start the shift light programming fasting. lol

This is really cool to see something I made working out for you guys. When the shift light addition is done you all will thank me. It's totally gonna happen.

I'm still undecided if I am going to go with the remote gauge or not. However I was wondering if it would be possible to put the digit in the stock Tach housing instead of the fuel gauge housing? I personally think it would be a little easier when glancing down at the RPMs to also see the gear your in instead of having to switch between Tach and Fuel gauge.

To be honest,
I'm not certain!

That is a good question

I'm sure it's probably possible to shoehorn it in there somewhere.

On a side note,
just did some stand up wheelie testing with the gauge in the case.
Seems to be working ok! No problems to report.
It doesn't get too hot because there is a heatsink inside and the whole thing is bolted t tohe metal case. Seems to work good!

Couple fun slow stand up wheelies outside the house feels pretty good too hehe. The ninjette does them rather well once you get it down.

Indicator showed up today. For about 5 seconds I was confused, wondering "Why did I get a miniature helicopter?"

Gonna need at least some clues on the wiring (or just tell me to read the bloody thread again, I'm tired). I'm fairly sure I can figure it out but it's faster, and safer for the hardware, for me to just ask.
EDIT: Found it earlier in the thread (post 71). See? I can read!

Will probably start on the install this weekend with it as-is to do an ops check. Then I'll worry about getting it all tucked in, etc.

Cool.
I used to be sponsored for flying those type of helicopters. lol

I notice if you are going to tap into the stock cluster, the red and blue wire going to either end of the cluster's "backlight" bulbs is good for taping switchable power.
This would be the orange wire and yours might have a fuse on it in yellow also.

The motorcycle frame is grounded.. connect the black wire to ground.

Brown is the neutral sensor input wire.
I taped it down near the neutral sensor on my bike and had no problems. Ran the wire along with the switch wires to the gauge.

Yellow and green are the switch input up/down sensor wires.

I will get a measurement on the distance from the clamp to the switches today and also a photograph of what angle the shift clamp should be installed at.

PM sent.
The gauges are starting to add up in cost for me with a case on them and all the hours of work. But they will be the only gear indicating gauge with an adjustable shift light on them after the upgrade, which will be free a month or two down the road.

Group two will have this automatically included. Group one will have to be upgraded later as I haven't written the code for the upgrade yet. But they can install the gauge and get the taste for gear indication for the time being.

There will also be a very minor programming bug fix that Honey Badger pointed out and I'm going to add some more hidden features I will describe later.
