Instamapper.com gone in December 2012

I've been using Instamapper coupled with an old Motorola iDen phone to track my bike (in case of theft). It was a super cheap alternative to lojack and other services...

...but now they're biting the dust. :[

Just thought you guys should know.

I wonder if a competing service will be able to take over the user accounts and keep the lights on, or if it really does need to shut down dead.

I really hope so. People were begging them to go from being free to a being a pay-per-month service. Their reasons for NOT doings so were:

-Hiring customer service
-No longer being able to use Google Maps for free/cheaply
-Potential lawsuit
-Man hours they don't want to put in
-Boost mobile cutting service to iDen phones July 2013
-expensive business license.

Really, what made the service so cheap was the phone and if it's going, then there goes cheap lojack :[
