interchangeability of parts question

please forgive my ignorance, I have had 15 bikes but this is my first new gen 08 250, I traded a title for title for my ninja 500 for a 08 250,
I really like the bike. I had been doing track days on my 500 but was looking for something a little tighter with a little bit more support and parts availability as well as modern geometry to it. I was also surprised to see as many 2 50's at the track, but

my question is are the 08 through 13 pretty much interchangeable, and what about the motor itself, I noticed that there are more available parts for this bike,

2008 - 2012 are interchangeable other than some very minor changes (battery size, OEM tires, and a few more). 1988-2007 are interchangeable, with some changes along the way to the electronics, camshafts at some point, and a few minor items. 2013 onwards are now the Ninja 300, with some interchangeable parts, but would have to research via part number to confirm what swaps over easily.
