Tire tread and Tech inspection

Heading to Thunder Hill next week for the first time and trying to get one more track day out of this Alpha 13 front for my Ninja 250. I'm nearly down to the wear bars on the edges, think i'll get by tech inspection?

Also, the rear still has plenty of tread left, is it normal for the front to wear faster than the rear? For a track bike, do any of you just change one tire at a time or both?

Should be fine.

Which day are you at TH? I've got spare wheel with good Alpha-13SP if you want to swing by and pick it up just in case. I'm north-east of S.F. off hwy-80.

I usually use newer tyres for races and move older ones to track-day practice. Get about 35-40 days @ track out of a set and they wear pretty evenly for me. If you use more throttle and keep front-wheel off ground more, you'll even out the wear...

The general rule is 80% of the tire tread but.....

Guys that work tech (normally the coaches) will make a spot judgment call. If they know you and your a track vet, it will pass. If you got tape on your lights, maybe not and you should have a plan to do a tire swap at some point.

Good luck, have fun!
