It’s not as cool as riding a roller coaster track on a real trials bike but then most of us aren’t paid by Red Bull to pull crazy stunts like that, there’s this motorcycle roller coaster in the Netherlands.

The ride is called the Booster Bike, a roller coaster in the Toverland amusement park in Sevenum, in the southeaster Netherlands. What sets this apart from conventional roller coasters is instead of sitting inside a cart, riders straddle motorcycle-shaped cars in a sportbike riding position. Here’s how it looks:



While the Booster Bike isn’t the first motorcycle roller coaster – Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., had one called the Motorcycle Chase featuring riders on parallel tracks astride motorcycles that resembled Indians; it was later redesigned as the Wacky Soap Box Racers ride due to concerns about the bikes’ high center of gravity – it did spawn a new generation of similar rides since opening in 2004,

The Booster Bike is actually a prototype, with the ride’s builder, Vekoma, later building two identical rides in the U.K’s Flamingo Land park and the Chimelong Paradise park in China. Since then, other ride builders have come otu with their own versions, such as the Mick Doohan Motocoaster in Australia’s DreamWorld park by Intamin and the Zamperla-built MotoCoaster in Darien Lake in New York. Vekoma built another, much larger, TRON-themed ride for Shanghai Disneyland, and has been contracted to build a similar one in Walt Disney World in Florida by 2021.
