Thanks, I think she just wants to try Thompson and then go full on at Palmer. However, she is a women and can change her mind whenever she wants to.

I've been learning the track at Palmer by watching this guy. We have the same style of riding (smooth and safe).

Can you pick out why he's so smooth?

I believe that may be Boris Simanovich, previous owner of my track bike.

I figured it was probably a 1000. If you notice he only uses 2nd gear on 90% of the track except for the long straight where he gets up to fifth. Not having to shift is the smooth factor.

Greg, have fun this weekend. Sarah farted out telling me she is too busy with work. I'm trying to get to Palmer for my birthday (May 28th). Dale picked up the Harris and I'm working on my Honda so if we both get there we'll have four or five bikes to run. We're trying to get the Harris, Honda, and a Kawasaki ready for Vintage Racing. We'll have my Suzuki 1000 and his Yamaha 600 for main rides but he is running a race team (he has Road Atlanta next weekend then Virginia in May, then Road America the beginning of June) and I'm having family issues to deal with so everything is up in the air, as usual. I've been studying the Palmer track and I feel like I have it down. Hopefully that will make me be able to keep up with Dale should we make it. If I make Palmer I should be able to make Razzee's in September (I'll leave a bike in Rhode Island).

Looking great! Best day of the next several. Partly cloudy and low 60s.

Greg, I'll be in the garage and trying to arrive on the early side. Feel free to pit with me, or at least drop by to say hi. There's a new guy who popped up on Tony's FB page (silver track-prepped SV) and I'll be hanging out with him.

Will stop by. Big RI group coming up I think 9 off the top of my head. I'll be with a buddy driving a grey tundra pulling a trailer. He has a tricked out ktm mortars that's making its first track day. Steve will be there on the red super hawk. He'll be putting out of an enclosed trailer.

Great first day. Good to see you, Greg, however briefly.

The long winter hiatus really shows. As I got on the bike to take it to tech I realized it was the first time I'd ridden it since, what, August? September?

Really feeling out of shape, too. Had a few mental slips (lack of focus) and more than once was looking for the checkered flag a couple of laps before it was thrown. Thompson Sundays can be rough, because there's no lunch break. A hot track for seven straight hours is a pretty hefty lift.

Despite the expected challenges, it was an awesome first day. Perfect weather and was feeling pretty quick at times. Most importantly, confidence was high and I was never uncomfortable on the bike. Just mildly annoyed at being stiff, tired and out of practice.

Hey same here. Even the guys I hang with from RI we were all on different groups and barely chatted the whole day. I came by the garage maybe in the 4:00 hour but didn't see you. Its like ride, cool off, check bike, eat, drink, and the 45 minutes is over and time to get back on track. Glad they were 15 minute and not 20 minute sessions I am wiped out as it is today.

Great weather for sure.

Yeah, those Sundays at Thompson can be brutal. Because of town ordinance, the track can't go hot until noon, so they run straight through til 7 pm with no break. I wound up sitting out the 4:30 session, rode the 5:30 and decided to call it after that. When you start looking for the checkers it's a sign that you're done.

When you guys are ready.... we can ride some 30m twilight sessions at Mid-O.

As far as Pitrace goes, as long as that date is not hosted by N2, I am down.

My issue with them is mostly their CR's... I will do my homework again to take into account recent events but I just haven't heard or seen good things. Too many crashes that involve their CR's and no acceptance of any fault. When you walk around the paddock on a red flag and hear 80% of the people ask or asssume if it was a control rider that went down, something is wrong!!!

You know I don't talk bad about anyone or anything unless it really rubs me the wrong way. I am not even saying bad things about N2 here. Many riders have a great day with them, but I will NOT be one of them until some changes have been made by the org that address on track safety concerns. I can spend my $$$ going elsewhere where I know my concerns will be addressed and taken into consideration. Dunno, maybe I have been spoiled by Mid-Ohio and Tony's Track Days.

Each rider has a tolerance of things, for me.... N2 doesn't work, other riders are just fine. Having been to Jennings, where there isn't even tech inspection in the morning before track time and only 2-4 coaches all day, I am ok with a decently high level of risk too. ijs.... Hope I am not being to bias overall, if so... someone feel free to smack me upside the head.

EDIT: Real Talk.... when you sign up for a season of 44+ track days, you start to think about things, like... I will be riding with said riders all season. Is this good or a bad thing for me? That is the question I have to ask. And for full disclosure and to be frank, I have avoided some coaches at Mid-Ohio over the years. When the org learned of the concerns, poof.... those coaches are gone and now coaches are evaluated in a continual fashion as they should be, because that is how Mid-Ohio rolls. The safety of ALL riders is priority #1. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Wow, I suck. But not TOO bad....

The long winter break, a sedentary job and laziness all add up, y'know?

Oops, posted in last year's thread by mistake.

Palmer special May 13 event update:

They need more people to commit by Friday, May 5 for this to happen. Tony @ttd has posted saying that if everyone is willing to chip in an extra $20 at tech, he'll pick up the slack (the extra $20 won't cover the cost).

Now, that's the way you run a track organization.

In case it gets lost in the comments area, the May 13th trackday is a go! Price right now is $150 for members and $200 for non members. That's a great deal for a WEEKEND trackday with light attendance. Price goes up $50 starting Saturday!

Just posted by @ttd:
Quote:
MAY 13th Tonys Track Day at Palmer,MA is CANCELED!

Due to the cold temperatures combined with the rain, we are cancelling the trackday for this Saturday - May 13th. We do NOT cancel events due to rain, but we are not comfortable with the added danger of the cold temps.

Anyone that has already paid for the event now has that amount "in the bank". Stay tuned for info on the best way to handle your credit. (I don't want to bog down this announcement).

Please spread the word regarding this cancellation.

Palmer update:

Bathroom building is up and running. That's good. No more portapotties anywhere.... which unfortunately means a long walk from the garages and far corners of the paddock. Palmer is so spread out that bringing a bicycle or pit bike is a pretty good idea.

The bad news is no showers.

Also... confirmation that TTD is planning to run the track backwards. Staff rode it in reverse Sunday night. Should be really cool, and a completely different experience.

Nope, no mention. I think they're waiting until plans start to firm up for next year.

I did the track walk at Palmer (always do, for the view) and made a point of turning around and looking at the reverse aspect. It should be great... the esses will be a bit scary, I think, but everywhere else looks like a blast.

I really like it when they run tracks backwards, because the same stretch of asphalt is so much different. Like having a whole new track to play with.

There are showers...they are on the back side of the bathroom building... following the sidewalk around.

The bad news is no showers.

Also... confirmation that TTD is planning to run the track backwards. Staff rode it in reverse Sunday night. Should be really cool, and a completely different experience.

Cool, thanks. I'll chuck my little tent in the car anyway but anything that reduces time and effort is worthwhile.

I'll be there the Monday. Still have to register. Wanted to do both days but returning from vacation in Maine on the Saturday. Unless I drive up late sat night...

Just got Monday via the NESR auction. Psyched.

Hello again everyone,
Sorry for my long absence. Life is complicated and stuff has kept me off the track and this forum. My wife is recovering from surgery (doing well), our tenant moved out so total update/renovation of Appt, 100% gutting and reno on the bathroom at our house, bought a house in the Philippines, Selling large amount of land in the Philippines and to top it all off I have aa new Job where I am my own boss and have to organize a small crew! Busy does not even begin to describe my life over the last few months. Well most of this is better now and I have begun reassembly of the 999! We have my wifes family coming here from June 21 (my Birthday) thru July 10th. After the 10th I am free to get back on the track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see some of the posts to this thread mentioning Pitt Race but I only see Ben committed to a date there and Mr. CSmith12 as tentative. I would be willing to make a drive out there for the end of July, although I would prefer to get at least one track day in on a familiar track before that date. I will be at all the Palmer dates after July and I would like to make the trip to NJMP when @Sirref is there to get a ride on the track with someone who knows the track. I am ready to get back out there so post up where you will be in July, Aug and Sept and I will see if I can get out there with YALL! I have not ridden a bike since my crash at Palmer in August of last year. Need to get back on the horse and ride again.

Since my wifes surgery, she cant move her neck well yet. We are selling her 2012 Ninja 250 with lass than 2000 miles. She will get another bike next year but let us know if there is anyone looking for a good clean bike with low miles. I have done some mods to the bike but have all the OEM parts along with the new stuff.

Thanks
Ant

Hey guys,
Spoke with Mr C. Smith last night and he was expressing some interest in Pitt Race. You have read his thoughts on the organization that runs the track days there but he said if we go he would also. Please sound off if you would be willing/able to make a late July or early Aug trip. From what I understand, Pitt is a 1 day only track so that may help some decide.

We also discussed possibly doing a NJMP trip in Aug. This was not really decided but he did say he has wanted to hit that track and the chance to hang with the N.E. group would be good.

I am sorry my year has been so busy so far, I really wanted to do more but there is always the second half of the season. We may not be able to synch everyones schedules for this year and have to postpone till 2018. Please post up if you are interested in either of the proposed dates and we will see if this is feasible.

Ant
