Who wears what for pants?

I'm an ATGATT guy. Leather jacket w/back protector, helmet, boots and gloves at all times. I also wear overpants but they're kind of bulky… so I"m considering getting some proper leather pants to wear instead.

I'm willing to deal with the mild inconvenience of carrying work trousers in my bag if it means better protection.

So: OFF the track, what do you wear below the waist, as in everyday riding and commuting? Lingerie doesn't count.

2 piece Spidi NRG leathers. I've seen first hand what happens when you crash with jeans and textile pants. Neither hold up well. I have a scar on my knee to prove it.

My textile pants aren't designed as overpants, but I can get away with wearing yoga pants or skinny jeans under them... you didn't have an option for non-overpant textiles.

mesh overpants with the wind/waterproof liner zipped in right now, however I'm looking into getting a nice fitting set of knee pads so I can wear just jeans and knee pads on the days that I don't exceed 35 mph (very often, as my commute is all city).

Last season I wore Knox Shorts and A* knee/shin guards under regular jeans. I bought some Draggin Jeans for this season and will use the same under armour items.

I am a ATGATT too, Helmet, gauntlets, leather jacket and full boots. I have a textile jacket which I wore on my riding course, I have never worn it on my bike.

After crashing with my textile over pants, I ended up getting another pair. I have the Icon Overlords. Icon does have a leather overpants. Just be aware when you go down with textile, you better hope you have some jeans under them pants or else that **** will melt to your skin. Also, you best be wearing your knee and shin guards too. My knees and leg will never be the same....

had a 40mph lowside last week and my drayko drift jeans held up flawlessly. I slid for maybe 50 feet, they barely have a mark on them.

Armored, leather overpants. Well, I wear them as overpants, anyway, because they're a tad big. I still need a belt to keep them in place though.

What was the road condition on which you were sliding on? icy paved? concrete? Was the bike on you for part of the slide?

I hit black ice with the bike mid turn, so the street was a little icy, where i slid though it wasnt ice, normal paved road, bike wasnt on me for any of the slide.

I usually wear gym shorts and a t-shirt. Last week I used jeans and a sweat shirt. It was cold so I also broke out the helmet. After all, I was going to the track and I didn't want to be recognized.

Try pricing a skin graft and gear won't seem so expensive . Looks like you're in the majority in the poll right now with most people voting plain pants/jeans.

I learned the hard way when I was 18. Jeans will completely fall apart. I was lucky that my slide was on the side of the road, on the grass/dirt section, after hitting a dog. I still ended up with badly ripped jeans and a nice big open wound on my left knee.

A friend of mine went down with Joe Rocket textiles and his butt was hanging out the back and legs were scraped up.

LEATHER is the only way to go people.

i have been wearing a textile over pant which have been great in the cold weather over top of my work pants. Super warm and comfy but, come summer i am thinking i will need something lighter or at least something that i won't get as warm in.

another set of pants is on my to buy list....along with 100 other things i can't afford

Just jeans for me. I have a pair of Icon Arc textile overpants but I never wore them much on the 250. Might start using them a bit more on the 636. A lot of the time, it's just not practical for me. I understand the risks and I accept them. Really would like to get some Drayko jeans one of these days...

It's a risk I'm aware of. If I was really worried about being hurt while riding I would completely stop riding altogether and drive my truck everywhere. Better yet I'd just stay home instead playing XBox.

I would like to buy the jeans I saw online that have kevlar and padding in the right areas. I think once I get my tax refund I'll be able to afford a couple pairs of those and maybe a set of overpants as well.

What I plan on buying first is a set of armor for inside my jacket and a set of something for inside my pants. Riding is a pleasure thing for me so I don't do it daily but I am always looking around for what's next and I know that good gear is always a must have. If I had known more about this stuff when I first got my bike I would have bought a set of overpants right away with the other gear I bought with the bike.

Sometimes it's just some Dickies cargo jeans with Knox Cross guards and EVS Impact shorts/Dainese hard shorts underneath.

Not a fan of the Knox Cross knee guards in short length. I find they want to rotate a bit and looking to replace them.

They're pretty inexpensive, have Kevlar inserts, and basic CE knee armor. I use them as over pants, and wear jeans underneath normally. I'm a little worried about how well they will vent in the summer, but I guess we'll see...

I am almost atgatt - pants and lower extremity armor is where I'm stuck at. Anyone else recommend some? Usually its my daily kommute from march-nov (last year). Was thinking some over pants type thing for convenience. Work in office environment and need to un suit fairly quickly. Oct-nov I wore 2 pairs of jeans for the kold and it Worked wonders for kold - maybe not for protection but now need to change.

aNy suggestions for summer heat riding protection?

I used to have Mesh pants but It turned out a size too big for me, so I sold it off and have now been sticking to good ol' jeans for a while. I'm thinking about getting something that fits next time as well as some knee protectors.

I think those are meant to provide impact protection in conjunction with abrasion resistant pants.

I have some icon pants I got on Ebay barely used that I can wear over some thick jeans. They have some padding on the lower back area and the shin area. Although they are the right size as I wear 30x32, they look like MC hammer pants near the bottom of the legs and they look like they are too long and would get in the way.

I was thinking of selling them back on Ebay or something and maybe trying something else. I don't like wearing leather or anything baggy when I ride. I'll try them on again when my boots come in. They should be in today Too bad its 30 degrees out though.

I ride to work when it's a bit cold before dawn and chaps weren't keeping my boys warm. I got a pair of leather overpants from http://www.jaminleather.com/Unisex-P...nts-P1015.aspx They have no padding, but do zip all the way up the legs so I can easily strip out of them in the parking lot w/o removing my workboots. One caution, the satin liner is very baggy and lose. If you try to zip the legs w/o your leg inside, the liner will get caught in the zipper like mad.

I had tried some textile pants when I first started riding and they were nice and toasty with the quilted liner, but didn't zip up at the leg so I had to take shoes on and off to put them on... PITA.
