better than stock at a super low price. I'd go for it if I didn't already have a super expensive Penske.

this is probably better for a heavier rider right? I am 200lbs and wondering how much better this shock would be than stock.

Should be able to fit it since common upgrade for pregen is to install newgen shock for stiffer spring and preload adjustment. I have one of each in box, will measure tomorrow

Not trying to derail the thread, but since the original item is no longer available, what *is* the recommended spring rate for someone around 200-210? I ask because I'm starting a pregen rebuild and I'm about the same weight.

It depends upon your type of riding. If your cruising and commuting, I'd say a spring of 7.0-7.9kg/mm is appropriate. If you're tracking or racing, 8.0-9.5 may be better with smooth surface and matching damping.

Looks like the 435 shock is available at Chapparal for $320

Thanks, Danno. I should have specified - cruising/commuting is definitely my application and there are enough potholes around here that the "smooth surface" assumption is wantonly violated.

Problem is, if a combination that DOES fit hasn't been tested, it falls into category 3 and is not listed. Really annoying because it's incomplete and not accurate data.

I went through this with Amazon recently with buying replacement H7 bulb for my CBR600RR. Bulbs are commodity items like potato chips; everyone has them. However, because Amazon has only tested one or two, it lists pretty much every H7 as "does not fit your CBR600RR". It would've been more accurate if they just said, " this product has not been tested on your bike so we cannot confirm YES or NO on fit"

Yeah, Amazon's "fitment" information is nearly worthless. If it says it fits, it probably does, but if it says it doesn't...it means nothing, because it still often does.

Can find it at many retailers. Just costs $320-350. Maybe Kirk didn't want it on their shelves anymore and did a close-out.

Ohlins for $500 seems too good to be true. Do we know they're legit?
