What is the Optimal Valve Clearance?
And Why?
Who has opinions and or experience in choosing a particular valve clearance to get a desired effect? I would like to understand and gain some tips on setting my valve clearance.

Check this article out (numbers apply to pre-gen):
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/What_ar...ance_ranges%3F ".......tighter clearances will increase top-end power, increase the chance of burning valves, reduce low-end power, and adversely affect idling. Looser clearances will make it idle better, increase low to mid power, and help to prevent burnt valves, at the cost of top end power. Of course, if you go too loose then you will have a lot of valve train noise."

That is correct. The reason is. The loose clearance allows the valve to open later than a tight tolerance. This effectively advances the cam timing. Also the duration will increase.
