Picking right frame slider..

Hey guys,

I am picking up a 250 next week and I wish to install a frame slider.

Now I noticed some of these are located so high that I am not sure if the bike is laid on its side from a stand still if it will save the fairing.

Seems like Shogun kit is rather mounted lower on the bike may have potential to save the fairing and other component better.

What are your experiences like on these?

TIA

Ive got the Frame Sliders from T-Rex Racing and they were the first mod I did to my bike. Without having any experience working on bikes I was able to accomplish the install in about an two hours.

You really cant go wrong with any of the, though. I would say decided which mount type you want them to have(from the link above) and go from there.

I have the Sato's. With the fairings off it doesn't take more than 20 minutes to install them with simple hand tools, and the kit comes with everything you need. The aluminum bracket they mount too seems like it's sturdy enough to hold up in a decent crash.

Kind of off topic I suppose, but is it true that frame sliders commonly damage the frame itself in the event of an accident? That's what my MSF instructor told me, so I yanked my sliders off a very long time ago thinking a bent frame was worse than some scratched fairings.

Mine aren't even attached to the frame, so I don't see how it would. The worst I see happening at high speed is snapping the bolts that attach the bracket or maybe cracking the transmission cover that it's attached to.

Ive had shogun sliders on my bike for over a year and a half on my ninja and its mounted low enough so when my bike tipped over once on each side it protected my fairings from any type of damage.

I recently had to drop the motor from the frame for some issues i had to fix and i inspected the frame slider mounting brackets(specifically at the welds and found no corrosion or damage from my tip overs)

I would highly recommend the shogun over any other brand because of how its mounts using a bracket to mount the slider to the frame and not using just the enigne mounting bolt(trex) or a stressed member of the frame(r&g which doesnt fit US models according to their website)

IMHO opinion frame sliders; which are incorrectly named(shoulde be named fairing sliders) can only really protect your bike from tipovers and really minor lowside. highsides are out of the question with or without frame sliders your bike is getting f****d. Lowsides are the same if a slider gets caught on something most likely a curb your bike is gone, just remember if you didnt have sliders and you went into that curb the damage would be nearly identical.

Sorry for my ranting, hope this helps a little
