[motorcycle.com] - Honda Light Weight Super Sport Concept Revealed

Honda revealed a new sportbike concept described as a “Light Weight Super Sport”. Few technical details were released, but speculation is the concept will eventually enter production as a two-cylinder CBR250RR. We hope to find out more when the concept debuts at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in late October.



A faint graphic on the body panels provides a look at the engine but we had to brighten up the image a bit to see what looks like two header pipes (click on the image above and you can see the curve of the second pipe behind the fairing.) Honda has long been rumored to be working on a twin-cylinder CBR250RR, but there is nothing that definitively indicates this is a quarter-liter bike. Facing the likes of the Yamaha R3 and KTM RC390, we wouldn’t be surprised if this engine slots into the 300-400cc range.



The concept sports a aggressive face with a long fairing with sharp-looking edges, a large departure from the friendly-looking CBR300R. The riding position also looks to be aggressive, while the upside-down fork, Akrapovic exhaust and carbon fiber components suggest much sportier performance than the sedate 300.
