Aprilia Picks Up Scooter Kudos in India

Aprilia SR 150 named scooter of the year in India

The space between Christmas and the New Year always provides a number of slow news days in the United States and other Western countries, so we've been checking out what's been going on further afield, which is how we learned recently that India’s business and financial TV news channel, CNBC, and the trade journal Overdrive have chosen the Aprilia SR 150 as Scooter of the Year.

A second award from the national news channel NDTV recognized the SR 150 as the top product in India’s crowded scooter market, where all the world’s top players compete.

As the first Sport Scooterbike in the rich Asian market, the SR 150 combines the feel of a racing motorbike with the ease of use of a scooter. Designed and engineered in Italy, it’s produced in the Piaggio Group’s factory in Baramati, in the state of Maharashtra.

“These acknowledgments confirm the quality and competitiveness of our product on a market of great strategic importance for the Piaggio Group,” said Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno. “India continues to be a market of priority interest and this product demonstrates Piaggio’s excellent reactiveness and great growth potential.”
