Carbon Fiber Vinyl

I have a dent in my gas tank and i want to make it look regular by putting something where the dent is and fitting a carbon fiber vinyl over it.

I'm terrible with measurements on round things.
Would this sheet be enough to fully cover the gas tank? Also anyoen have experience using this stuff?

Alright first of all what your looking at there is the cheap knockoff stuff of the real 3M Di-Noc film. I just got done using the Di-Noc and its very impressive stuff and looks great. The fake stuff might still be ok but I've never used it zoo I don't know. 12" wide is going to be to narrow to cover the whole tank, you could probably get away with using a 24"x24" piece but even that would be cutting it close. If it were me I'd go at least 36"x36" and use the extra if any to play around with on other parts of the bike.

3M's new stuff is called 1080 and has a new pressure sensitive glue that make the job a whole lot easier.

Pretty impressive stuff. But wow... 90$ just to cover a tank and a couple small parts is so much more than the knock offs. I bet they don't even compare. I might order the cheap 10$ stuff to see if it looks nice then upgrade to this stuff if i like it.

I did my gas cap yesterday with the 3m di-noc it was a B**** to get it into all the crevasses but overall it looks good for my first try. I just bought a $6 12"x12" square to test it. Ill be buying a bigger sheet of the 1080 soon and trying some other stuff with it. Wrapping my tank is on the list of things I may try, he'll if the tank comes out good maybe ill do the whole bike.

i thought about doing my whole bike also

it seems like its still cheaper than getting paint, compressor, paint gun, and other chemicals.

if your tank has a dent in it, chances are it will begin oxydizing on the bends. eventually this starts contaminating the gas with oxydized metal which clogs the jets every week

Question carbon vinyl wrap question

I currently have the clear tank slapper to help protect my pant, don't like the look and has started to peel easily. I am considering using the 1080 carbon fiber vinyl, but on only the bottom half of the tank. From just below the gas cap to the seat and down the side of the tank. How do you think it will look with just half the tank done? I really don't want to wrap the whole thing. Any suggestions?

I do like the looks of it, but doing half will keep cost down and I really don't want to remove the kawasaki stickers
