Notices, way to turn off?

Is there a way to not see the Notice box toward the top of the page?

already asked, there doesn't seem to be a way at the moment. It's part of the site for everyone at the moment.

Usually - I make most of the notices dismissable. If they are, there is a red X to the right of them that will dismiss the notice. Sometimes I intentionally leave off the red X when I want to make sure that a thread gets enough views. The Area P group buy is one of those occasions, and leaving the notice there does drive quite a bit of traffic to the thread (almost 1000 thread views today). Once it hits its goal I'll likely flip it over to dismissable.

The fuss that teeny tiny little bar has created is surprising to me.

I'll toggle it back off in a day or two. As annoying as the notice might be to some, it basically works exactly as it's intended to; that GB thread has now had 1100+ views in 2 days.

I like the notice bar, but I can't get ninjette to stop sending me emails

I have the same issue with another forum.. no matter how many times I turn it off in settings I still get email notifications..

@GHill762, take a look at this thread to configure the email notifications however you prefer (including turning them off altogether). The thing people often miss is just changing the setting for future threads, but forgetting to unsubscribe or change notification settings from all of their existing threads.

Some people like to subscribe to threads so they show up in their control panel, but don't have any email notifications. Others like the notifications for all threads. Also - when you change your settings for future threads to subscribe or not, that doesn't change the subscription settings for the older threads; you need to go into that part of the control panel, select all subscribed threads, and choose how you want them to behave.

Thanks Alex, I think this is my problem (on both forums actually), my notifications are coming from old sub'd threads.. thanks for your help

If you go to the "subscribed threads" link from the quick links menu, you can select all of them with the checkbox at the top and change the options for each existing thread en masse.

The Area P box is now removable, so you people can stop complaining about something that takes up .001% of your screen

(time to code the "if username = Unregistered, hide red box in perpetuity" clause).
