Totaled 250

Got my bike, never dropped it perfect riding for 2 months straight as a new rider. Went on a ride. Speed limit was 50, coming around a corner with no warning signs, construction signs or anything the road turns into a dirt graveled road. The gravel road was also black blending in with normal street, didn't have time to react and bike lost traction. Flipped my bike going 30 and totaled it. A more experienced rider probably could have avoided this but I do think they should have had warning signs.

And I hope you were wearing more than a vest.

No gloves?

Are you alright, I take it you are since you didn't mention anything.

Well, it sucks, maybe next time you'll pay more attention to the road environment.

I did have leather gloves I forgot to mention. This happened about a month ago, I was just recenty able to ride out where it happened to get a picture. I was in shock when it happened and didn't even get pictures. Helmet got scraped and my leg was just bruised but that's it. Could have been much worse.

I believe there should have been warning signs. Have you contacted an attorney?

I'm only 20 barley affording my tuition. I'm sure I could have hired someone but I didn't want to go out spending tons of money and end up just in debt from it. There should have been signs but I should have reacted better.

Sorry to read this, Jake

In my experience, they don't bother to sign anything that is not a danger to cars; however, it may have been dangerous for cars if loosing traction of the four wheels could happen for those conditions.

You could have saved it by getting off the gas and standing on the pegs,...........or maybe not;..........who knows?

The best remedy is prevention.
In this case, you should have gone slower if non-familiar with the road and scanning the surface far away.

Again, feel sorry for the damage to your bike.
Get some legal advice soon (many lawyers offer free consultation and no-win-no-pay deal).

Hope you are not badly hurt.

Best !

Thanks, I didn't really get hurt. This happened a month ago. I've gotten better, not to mention I've taken the MSF course since.

?

If a lawyer thinks you're in the right you might not have to put up any money.

Just consult a few of them,..........what else could you loose?

It seems that the tar machine did break down or that they did run out of fuel for it.

I think it's too late for legal action because this happened a month ago and I've already dealt with it through my insurance

If you want to see if you've got a case you could call these folks:
http://www.russbrown.com/contact-russ-brown.html
I phoned them after my wreck last month and even though I haven't hired them they were very helpful in letting me know what to look/ask for and said if anything went wrong to call them back.

thats still well within the time frame for action...

also if you are successful, your insurance will find you not at fault.
that alone could be worth thousands of dollars in the long run.

Yeah its certainly worth looking in to. They oil my road and drop gravel down to resurface the roads and they always put temporary warning signs down when they do this. There really should be signs there and at the very least you should probably contact the township and see if you can get any put up so this might not happen to someone else.
