Difficult decision ahead

hey yall...

the day hath cometh.

The beloved 250 must go on Craigslist soon.

I'm moving from HI to the mainland in two weeks for schooling and the little Ninja must stay behind.
I've got a dilemma ahead.

I can buy a bike in a few different places on the mainland, good buyers markets all of them.
I may have a SWEET line on an 08 Ninja, there's plenty of SV650 bikes around,
and of course I love Honda Hornets.

What say ye? I mean obviously this is the ninjette forum, so I have a feeling
it will slant a certain direction.

The only reason I'm open to other bikes is
1) I may wanna take the wife on rides here and there
2) I have some freeway riding ahead, and I know the little 07 I have now gets
a little dodgy around 80ish.
Are the newer ones better?
3) I'll admit it. I want a tad more power.

thoughts?

kkim, komohana: sorry guys!! I hate to leave so soon after joining the epic Kauai 250 clan!

Some thoughts... Though truely you have to do what is more comfortable for you.

Financially...
Do you already own your 07? If so whats the cost of shipping? My thought is that it is one less payment to make should you get a new bike. *I believe someone just shipped their ninja from HI to SoCal, might have some insider tips.*

Have you (and your wife!) sat on these other bikes to see if they are a good fit? Whats your wife's take on perhaps inherating the Ninja to learn on?? Perhaps? Maybe?

It's okay if you get a bigger/different bike. We aren't haters here.. Traitor... I mean.. er... Na I am just teasin!

Good luck with the move!

I knew something was up when you were so quiet lately. Sorry to hear you'll be leaving Kauai.

My take is to sell the bike on Kauai and get something up there that's suitable when life and finances allow. School and family are much more important, so get there, figure out your life situation and then think of getting another bike.

Shipping a bike runs about 500-600 from Honolulu to the west coast according to ninjabrewer who just had his shipped about a month ago.

Good luck to you.
