CCS Mid Atlantic / Atlantic

Calling all 250 and 300 riders! We need more representation on the CCS grids in the Atlantic regions for the ultra-light class. The numbers are really slim. I'm expecting only 2 bikes at Summit Point this weekend, which includes myself. The most I've seen is 4, which was at VIR a few weeks ago. If the 600s weren't in the way, the battling ninjettes would have been a spectacle.

Come on and join the fun!

I can't do it this season due to financial reasons but I'll be out there on my 300 next season

I'd do it now but bodywork or buying another bike that I could actually use in the class while keeping my street bike on the street ain't cheap (I'd prefer to get a track only 250 so I could still use my 300 on the street but that'll run me about $2000 that I don't currently have, around $1000 for the bodywork and other things I'd need)

is it really just you and brandon out there in ccs ultralightweight now?

There is a third person. I'm not sure if Jimmy is on here. But he has a tuned 300 which is pretty quick down the straight. We had a nice battle today, until one of the expert SV's thought that he could pass me going into a turn and took out my front wheel. So yeah, just 2 of us this weekend playing with the SVs.

I'm good. Fairings are banged up, but all is well. Was able to continue the rest of the day. But I have a few things to replace this week. It's racing!

Jackson was on the 0range 300 at VIR, but wasn't at Summit. Jimmy's 300 is matte Black. He just got back to racing this year from taking off for 10+ years. He can move on that thing. It was a fun day. I just wish more of our class bikes were there.

I may have to just suck it up and start travelling to those races a couple of times a year. They seem like so much fun.

I'll be at NJMP this weekend with CCS on my Ninja 250 - I was there in May but wiped out in the first race. Couldn't find the parts I needed to finish the weekend...

I was running against a 300 and a Honda 250, which was the most exciting UL CCS racing I've ever experienced. Last year it was usually just Paasch and Mazziato, who are just way beyond my capabilities

Nice! Looking forward to it. I'll be there too. Jimmy was on the 300. I don't know the person on the Honda. I'll be on my 300, number 546.

I think Andrew is on the KTM 390 now. Not sure if he is still running the 250. All I know is that his times were ridiculous on that bike. I'm pretty sure he didn't touch the brakes to do 1:38s.

CCS Florida region has about 18-25 250s on the grid at every race.

I plan to be there either end of this year or beginning of next. I've got to see what it's like to be on one of those grids.

Unless they just let me do the race and no track day, probably not. I would really like to though.

@Sirref I'll be gone Sunday evening... Biggest 250 grid I've been in was at TGPR with WERA last August - that was really fun...

Enjoy TPM!

It was a fun and interesting weekend at NJMP. KTM 390's crashed out GT race and weren't legal. They took the top 3 spots. I disputed it the day after but was told it was too late since results were posted. Oh well... But those bikes are quicker than the 300. Not by much. But enough to make a difference down the straights.

Joey and I were the only 250/300s on the grid. :-( We also had an EX500 on the grid with us. Was fun racing and good times. Can't wait for the next ones!

Looks like we will have more on the grid next year. A group of guys are buying 250s. And I'm courting some others to join the CCS fun. I expect next year will have larger grids for the little bikes.

Hope to see some of y'all at Summit end of August!

in the TPM race it was a huge difference since jackson and yates were running 1:38s in practice (idk what they were running in the race but it was faster, they lost me in T4 and I was pissed about it since I wanted to follow them and learn but wide open into T4 is faster for them.

Looking forward to the larger grids in CCS, I'll be one of those riders on it if all goes to plan

you should ride with brandon, then again andre runs around the same pace

do you know what your times were?
I ran a best lap of 1:52, which is 5s slower than my best lap ever around thunderbolt. The heat was brutal and my times were worse in the ninja race than the supersport race, which is a shame since my pace would have had me in 2nd behind glen (1:48 pretty much every lap)

@Sirref my best time ever on Thunderbolt with the Ninja 250 is in the 1:53s:

http://atr.tools/racers/joeymink/

I think my best times this past weekend were in the 1:54s. Not sure why I'm not getting better, but I know a few spots where I'm throttling-off too early. I assume you mean Brandon Paasch? I've been smoked by him a bunch of times

BTW, I've been working on that site above -- http://atr.tools - feel free to create an account and take it for a spin! If you have a source for lap times you want to be able to import, let me know!

yeah, I mean paasch

I shaved 3s off my time when he passed me into T1 at thunderbolt on july 4th, and I'm still not even close to his entry speed (that was my best lap there)

@britx303 see you at Summit with CCS if you're there! I think it'll be my last one for the year.

@Sirref I won't be able to make the mid-August TPM event at Summit. I need to catch up on their offerings/rules/cost, but it sounds like their 250 grids are pretty decent, huh?

yeah the grids are inconsistent but we've had 9 bike races and there's some interest so it's growing. The rules are there to make it easy and fair between the 250/300 and you barely need to do anything to your bike to run it from stock. I've been running my 300 in street bike trim and loving it. Only issue is if you're running a 300 you can't have a power commander but that's not the biggest deal, I believe andre normally runs one and disables it for TPM gpmoto racing

I believe cost is similar to ccs but you can win cash from it which is nice. I'll be there for every event next year and should be running some ccs as well on my 300

A race license is pretty easy to get. Just attend one of the race schools in the area and don't crash in the mock race. I recommend MARRC for the school. But you can also go to TPM or Motorcycle Excitement at Summit.

Thanks for that info. I usually ride with Motorcycle Xcitement and N2. I will check out their race schools however I think you need to be in their advanced group but I will double check.

You can be in any group and with any experience level. As long as you pay the fee and have everything needed for a track day, you can get your license. Like I said, it's pretty easy to get a race license.

Alright Joe and Dre.......my buddy already got his hands on a race ready ex250,and hes planning on running it at Summit in a couple weeks. Hes wanting me to run my 250 but it needs tires BAD!!! So I might finish out the season on the ex500. We will be running 500 supersport, and im guessing he might do UL Thunderbike. Our other FZR racing buddy(also our Bridgestone guy) is still trying to locate a race ready 250,so that will be one more on the grid next year. Altogether, there should be 4-7 of us next year coming to play in the 250 arena See ya in a couple of weeks!!

^ race the TPM ninja class too, it's a lot of fun and has a good grid already to jump into. It feels like every race weekend adds one or two more riders to the class. It's a good class to run

Running both next season will be tons of racing fun on the little bikes

Racing WERA and CCS and multiple bikes, doesnt leave any funds for track days. I think its seriously awesome TPM has this either way. If I had only a ninja 250 as my racebike,I would be all over it though. Have fun out there Sirref

I'm putting my funds into track days ahead of time with a titanium package w/TPM so I'll literally be riding track all summer whether I end up racing ccs or not and with gas/tires/brakes/parts being my only expense during the summer I think it's fairly likely I'll be able to make it to a few ccs weekends

Ohhh I want to participate in the TPM 300 race class! I just looked at the updated rules and it looks like for my 300, I would just need to put my stock MC and caliper on and also remove my Area P/full Yoshi. It looks like alot of fun.

full exhaust is legal now (no power commander)

I'm pushing to get aftermarket MC legal since no one likes the brake feel and an R1 MC is not an expensive mod that makes a huge change to the way the bike feels
