Another recruit from Vancouver, BC

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for a while, but I have finally found a bike at a decent price.

Picked up a 2011 ninja 250 for quite the bargain when it comes to bikes in my area, but it also came with a pretty fun electrical problem. The left turn signal activates all the turn signals and they flash like hazards, and the right turn signal turns on all the turn signal but they dont blink they just stay solid.

Hopefully i can keep myself upright on the bike for longer than my buddy

Welcome

I had an issue when I bought my bike from a private seller where the right turn signal would blink normally, and the left would just stay solid.

Long story short, they had an aftermarket tail light/fender eliminator and the resistor that was supposed to be wired into the circuit for the left light had detached. Just reattached it with some electrical tape and it's working fine now.

I'm no electrical engineer or anything like that by the way. Just looked at the wiring in the rear storage area and saw the loose wires and tried connecting them and presto, it started blinking. Sometimes you can spot something fishy that's causing the problem just by digging around a little!

Anywho, if you can't find out the problem on your own, there are definitely some on here that will be able to help ya!

Good luck with your new ninja.

Yeah, the signal problem was just bad wiring. I got all the fairings off and found some loose connections, once they were back on the lights starting working perfectly.

My newest problem is a ticking noise from the engine, from the online search its either the cam chain tensioner or i need to flush out the oil again.

I recently did an oil change and the old oil that came out was really dirty, but I guess that''s what you get for buying used. Oh well the bike is nearly up and running like new. New chain and sprockets, the electrical is all good, just gotta get rid of the ticking noise.
