Not sure of the model, but I'd guess from the mid or late 50's? Would be a collector bike today, properly restored.

The same neighbor had a bud with a Ducati single "scrambler", my first taste of Ducati. They worked on them in his garage. Ducatis were always reveled as special, even back then in the early 60's.

I remember discussions prior to buying..."how is it for parts"? He then ended up with a CB160...a screamer in its day, and a local supporting dealer close by. Years later, also my first legal street bike...but no pics. Till the late 70's-80's when cameras became more accessible.

Here's my '78 XS750 Yamaha, my first NEW bike. Worked at the dealer, the owner cut me a helluva deal. Again, a lousy old paper picture.
I remember the Honda CB160. In high school had a few guys had them. So, their mother's Hoover vacuum was missing the long chrome vacuum extension (and maybe grandma's too) and they found their way onto the CB160s in place of the O.E.M. muffler. Everything was fine until they fried their exhaust valves running the bikes with no jetting changes. That's the main reason I'm so sensitive about exhaust/carb jetting today. 1960s exhaust valves were not as robust as the valves we run today.

Pretty sure that's referred to as a "Le Mans Start".

Not me, but my oldest boy on his first bike at about age 4 -

We still have it. He fired it up a while ago, just to smoke up the garage...

Here he is 17 years later -

He also has a '98 VFR 800 that recently replaced the 2 Ninja 250s he rode for about 4 years after getting his license.

He's got "the gene" (the motorcycle/speed one).

1977 DT100D. Pony sneaker, red toughskins, and automotive store metal flake helmet. I destroyed it should have got the YZ80, but I wanted lights and a speedo. Wish I had pics of my 1974 MR50 Honda - that was a blast!

Fourth picture down. A midget race car - a Ford V-8 60 powered one I think. My dad ran one and had the same belly. I'll bet your grandfather liked his beer.

Beer and VO. Gramps had the "Offy" midget and a sprint car. I spent all my summers there as a kid. Best time of my life (except for some of the other great times I've had).

My dad could only dream of an Offy. I spent a-lot of time at 1/4 dirt tracks also. I remember as a kid at one track they let me play 45s over the loudspeaker system. I must have been about 10. After I played Johnny Horton's "Battle Of New Orleans" about ten times in a row I was escorted back to the grandstands.

Circa 1982ish

I wish I had the sense to take pics of all my bikes, would have been good food for bumping my brain cells back into life.

Actually I'm sure I did, but where they are now is anyones anyone's guess.

Constantly moving around the country tends to make you "lose" alot of things.

Here's my grandfather taking me out for rides at 4-yrs old. Earlier, he had built a wooden platform so I could see over bars!
