carb swap

Does anyone k,ow if I can swap carbs
I have a 86 ninja 250
And was wondering if I can put a 2010 ninja 250 carbs
In my 86,,
Asking would it make a difference in performance or ridding.
If not I'll leave it how it is

As far as I know, it is the same carb... (someone correct me if I'm wrong) So you will be able to swap, but you will not benefit from it.

If you want more performance then you need to jet the carbs.

^ Danny is correct. The carbs are functionally the same, the new gen carb comes stock with different jets and probably needles as well so the bike would need jetted to get it back in the optimal range

On a nit pick note, Jetting is not a "performance" mod/upgrade, it is simply adjusting the air/fuel ratio to the correct settings so the engine is running in the optimal range and should be done on all carb'ed engines and especially after any change to the intake or exhaust, again to get the ratio back in the correct range.

Other carbs could provide more performance but you typically need the engine and exhaust mods to go along with it, other wise the extra intake doesn't do jack
