across the island and back.

well it started with an early morning wake up yesterday. i decided to go to our factory which is in Java with a client who is a passionate bike rider, and his friend came along as well!

met up at my office at 6.45 am, and started out on the 2 hour ride. they came with a Ducati (997? forgot which one exactly), and a KTM 950SM. and me along on my quater liter, he he...

did not get any action pictures, nor many pictures of the actual trip, only managed to pull out the camera a couple times when we stopped for a drink.

this was at our first pit stop, we had a drink, relaxed for 10 minutes, and then were off again. this was about half way there to Gilimanuk.

one of the perks of having our own boat... get the express ride across to Java without the tedious hour or 2 sitting on the ferry!

my red hot ninja with the AreaP exhaust, im lovin it... (ops, thats a mc d trademark?) however i do need to get me some ear plugs for my next proper bike ride, had a bit of a buzzing sensation after all of that wind and exhaust drumming into my ears.

on our way back we took a long cut through the mountains, there were small tight curving roads, little traffic, and not too much dirt and gravel on the roads. here i had the best time ever! the ninjette really shines when you take it on the tight curves. i was able to keep up with the ducati easily on the curves (my friend had to really control the trottle cos one slip would send the back wheel flying with so much power!) the KTM was left behind cos its such a tall bike, and the curves were so tight, he really had to take it easy. again way too much power for that kind of road, and that involved a lot of throttle control on his part not to let the bike fly.

here we stopped again for a quick rest, and to regroup. the kids were all over the ducati, he he...

the last pit stop at the top of the mountain. at that point i was totally pumped on adrenaline, ha ha... the rest of the ride down the mountain was just as great, until we hit the main roads again, and had to battle with trucks, buses, and a billion scooters.

we rode about 300 Km i think. got sore calves from all the constant breaking and gear shifting for like 5 hours, and a little sore on the shoulders from carrying a backpack that was way too big and heavy...

but besides that i had the best ride of my life! im looking forward to another ride like that asap! just need to get the free time coordinated with some other riders, and some good weather

peace out,
W.

Looks awesome there. Great pics but I have to ask about the license plates. Couldn't they find a longer one? And why does your 250 have a front plate but the others don't? Cool pics anyway and looks like fun.

yeah... dumb license plates, everyone keeps askin about it ha ha!

its actually mandatory to have them up front here, so the ninja being a bike that's officially imported here to indonesia got a front mount plate thing installed already in the factory (Thailand)... while the other two bikes are full imports, and they just don't have a spot to put the number plate, lol

i plan to take it off and stick it behind the windshield or something, just haven't gotten round to it cos i will need to take the whole front faring apart to take the stupid bracket off...

here the police issue the number plates, and they look like that. its possible to get custom ones made, but again, i just haven't had the time to fiddle with that yet. i plan to do a fender chop, so ill get that done at the same time to match whatever i decide to do with the fender.

lol, yeah, he just came off the KTM after a LOT of tight windy roads where he got left behind by the ducati and I. he hopped on my bike and said something like: "oooh... this bike is soooo low! no wonder you can go so fast on these curves"

cant wait to go on another ride like that... sigh~

Great pictures Wayanlam. Indonesia looks like a beautiful place! It's awesome to see international ninjette members, and what their rides look like.

yeah, well none of the pictures actually had me in them! although there is a microscopic picture of me and my girlfriend on my avatar.

but yes, it is nice to see other countries through the eyes of fellow riders. im so jealous of the roads in NZ for example, lol... that's some beautiful mountain roads that they have. and also in the States!

here its a little on the hazardous side, lots of traffic, mostly oblivious scooters, dogs, chickens, babies, and random piles of gravel/sand/rocks for construction that gets dumped literally on the road.

i went for a night ride last night, left at about 9pm, and drove up to the top of one of the volcanoes (to Bedugul) i haven't been up there in years, and was pleasantly surprised at the good road quality. took me about an hour and a half to drive just under 100 Km. ended up buying a fresh pack of strawberries when i stopped for a stretch and a drink, he he....

ill need to go there again in the day time to enjoy the twisties! it was a little scary taking them on with only the bike lights (no road lights) and not knowing if there was gonna be a mound of gravel or not.

didnt get any pictures this time, too dark for my lil phone camera

that's the route i took last night, and as you can see on the map, about 80% of it is on relatively straight roads, which was a little boring, but still fun enough cos the roads were empty. next time round ill take a totally different road i think, ill take the road up the parallel west road, drive along the northern coast and then come back down the parallel east road to what i did last night.

its probably around 200 Km.. so i would need a good 3~4 hours i think, specially since these roads wont be as smooth as the road going up to Bedugul.

so this is what my next ride should look like... as long as i don't get lost that is! lol

anyone wanna join me for a ride?
