Valve adjustment help needed
I did the Valve adjustment on my 08 250 but it kept getting out of adjustment. So i decided take it the dealership thinking i did it wrong and they adjusted the valves 3 times and they had the same problem.
They finally told me that one of the cylinders had alot of carbon built up which was causing the problem and it they have to remove it and blast it to remove the built up but they want to charge me $1,250 to do it... This is were i need your help is there another way to fix it or to do it myself. Thanks in advance. |

That does sound $$ to me, but I don't know what the avg. charge for that kind of work is.
You may want to check your local craigslist for someone who does work on the side, or has a small shop with low visibility. You can also google to find forums for local moto clubs and ask around there.

if you can do a valve job you can figure out the rest. just take the entire thing apart and do it yourself. do a nice port and polish job while you're in there. you'll get tons of power from it

Of course, I should have thought of that too..... because that is exactly what I did. If you do decide on another engine (ebay, or wrecker, etc.), you will want to check with your DMV website, so you know what you'll need to do with them. I never did, so it could come back to bite me if I tried to sell it today.

I went to a different place and told them my problem and they told me to try a fuel additive(yamaha ringfree) to clean it out. Since at the moment i don't have to time to take the bike apart.
And they told me the same thing, that i could buy a whole new engine with that kind of money. |
