why the right side?
ok, so i am doing research for a DIY 2-1 exhaust and all the threads/videos/pics show the tailpipe on the right side of the bike. I gotta know why. Is this some unwritten rule, or is there a performancey reason behind this?
I will be fabricating (big word for jury rigging in my case) one out of parts i already have or can get for el cheapo, and my right pipe is all banged up from a crash that was definitely not my fault, and totally due to uncontrollable circumstances (i hit gravel in a turn, panicked and grabbed to much brake). is there a reason i should not put the pipe on the left?

Kickstand not properly set and exhaust goes kaplat. My only logic.

because the chain is on the left side
chain lube splatter doesn't go well with hot exhaust.

Ease of chain / sprocket maintenance. There's just less stuff in the way on the right side.

Moto2 bikes have stock cbr600 engines, but don't have kickstand, and most have LH zorsts,
so there is the answer. |

The real logical reason has been listed:
Chain Maintenance. |
