Looking for a mechanic or physical help working on my bike
I live in Stafford, VA and the only place I have found to do work on my 2008 Ninja 250R is the dealer in Fredericksburg and they seem pretty expensive. I am having a problem where it will not hold an idle and cuts off if I run it without the choke on. I believe the bike was not properly winterized. I would like to remove the airbox and get some kind of Air filter that does not use the airbox, remove the carbs and get them checked out/cleaned, jetted since I will have removed the airbox. So if there is anyone in the area that can recommend a mechanic, or has enough knowledge to assist me with this over a weekend please let me know.
Oh and I have most of the bike apart right now. Having difficulty getting the carb off, I have only moved the airbox back after dropping the rear flap a little by removing the 2 screws. Thanks, Rdano |

I wish
I did spend some time in Cali and I loved it, I really don't like Virginia and I am from Florida. Sunshine, warm weather... That is the life I want. Unfortunately, I am stuck here a while longer. Thanks though.

If not properly winterized I suggest running some Stabil fuel additive that you can get from any autopart store and completely run the existing gas through the engine.
Gas may have gelled in the jet as it was sitting for a long time. Why take off everything without trying easy and necesaary stuff first? |

Forgot to mention that
I forgot to mention that I did run some seafoam green with a gallon of gas through it. Should I run Stabil also? I can get it started and it can run, I just have to have the choke on the whole time. I think the carb's idle intake jet is gunked up. I am pretty sure it was not properly winterized, I forgot to do that before going overseas. My brother attempted it but I bet he didn't do it right. At least he pulled the battery. Anyway, I am at the part of taking the carbs out, it is difficult to get to the screws to loosen the right side intake. The left I can reach. Anyway, I haven't pulled the fairings all the way off, and wanted to mod it for easier work in the future. We will see what this week brings.
