Students working on your bike?

Would you take your bike to get service to a training school? Students work on the bike. REPAIR WORK AS PART OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

I would, I imagine they have insurance, etc. I guess it depended on the work too. I would tell them that I would want to watch or at least come in and check on their progress part way through.

I would expect a large discount too.

If the instructor is a competent mechanic and had the backing of being trained by qualified schools, why not? With the instructor reviewing the work and overseeing the job to grade or train the student, that's additional eyes on the work being done.

Beats the unknown kid at a random shop with who knows what sort of training or trying to muddle through yourself. Plus prices would/should be cheaper.

lol... even when you take your bike to a shop, it's not always certified mechanics working on it.

You will often get a student (apprentice) at big dealer anyway unless it is a critical job, so I think you would actually be better off at a training school because the supervisor is watching all the time rather than doing another job and downing tools to make the odd supervisory check.

I would say yes, because I figure giving students hands-on experience would be a good thing. If it helps a student become better at their craft, I don't mind my bike being a sacrificial bike in this case.

They would probably take more care of the work as they are learning and would be extra careful.

No my bike, I am the only mechanic she will ever know.

If you have to take yours to a shop, better supervised students than non-supervised apprentices.

At the end that is what we all are: apprentices.
